Preamp + power amp club?

Not the greatest quality, but here's my Peavey Maxbass pre-amp going into a Peavey IPR 3000 poweramp:

I run my Zoom B3 into the input of the Maxbass, and the IPR output into my fEARful cabinets (a 15/6 and 15sub) - I typically run one channel for the 15/6 and one for the 15sub so that I have independent control of the two cabs (usually aiming one at my drummer so he can hear the bass better). Either both channels get the output of the Maxbass, or I run the Maxbass into one channel for the 15/6, and a second output of my B3 gets fed into a mixer, mixed with the kick drum, and run through the second channel into the 15sub. The extra rack space conveniently holds a black light tube I have (looks quite blue in the picture - in actuality it's much darker and purple).

I use the same preamp. I will gig with it for the first time in early March 2017. I use it full range into a Crest 2.0 into a fEARful 1515/66. I use both channels at the same time for an all clean tone.

By the way, I notice that the tube side is ready to produce overdrive at a pretty low knob setting - I keep it in check to be clean.
Do you have any experience with tube rolling in this preamp ???
I'd maybe try a 5751 or ? for a low gain option.

Totally agree on facing one cabinet towards the drummer, not only so he can hear me better but also cause I became sick & tired of listening to our guitarist/FOH guy and FOH buddies complaining about bleed into the vocalists microphones from the low end of my sub. Of course I have to admit they are right for the most part.

Getting great tone without boomy low end in some of these clubs while the drum kit is naturally loud is certainly an exercise in frustration.

I really dig the flexibility that a Pre/Power setup offer, BUT, I may buy another bass amp, just for the sake of variety. I run a "Royal Blood"-style setup, signal is split at an ABY box, one side goes to my bass rig, the other side goes to an EH Pitchfork(set to +1 octave), then to a guitar overdrive pedal, then to a Marshall Code 50 guitar amp. I can play bass and rhythm guitar. Unfortunately, I still only get paid for one job...:D

I am definitely interested in this thread, as I am currently shopping for just that - a pre amp/power amp combo to be used in my home rack system for rehearsal & practice. Count me in!

I did some tube rolling when I had an Ashdown ABM combo, but not with this preamp. I like the overdrive I can get with the Maxbass and pretty much (at least right now) just use the tube side when I want overdrive - when I want a cleaner tone I use the solid-state side. For the hard rock stuff I do the overdrive on the tube side seems to work well.

Oooh... what settings are you using on the Mesa and the IPR? And what kinda sound are you going for?

I've just moved from using an old 70s Holden head (100w 6550 beast) - which is a really clean head designed for guitar, bass or vocals - and while the Mesa tone is awesome its not as bright or clear as the Holden, even with the treble maxed on the Subway...
