Ok..was just given this power amp
and I am sorry but...reinforcing my previous belief....Lead sled.....even compared to the new Magellan power amp.....Lead sled just sounds heftier and richer...chocolatey

The Sadowsky preamp is killer, if you are looking for good clean Jazz Bass tones.
The Sadowsky Preamp/DI is bees knees for great clean bass tone that sits in the mix. I actually used the thing the wrong way for 15 years before reading some recent information here on TB. Here is a little more info:

One of my favorite rigs . Ampeg SVPCL into a bridged Crown XLS 1500 into fEarful 15/6 and 15 sub .
I'm running a furman power conditioner, line 6 g90 wireless, korg pitch black pro tuner, eden navigator pre, and peavey Ipr 2 dsp 2000 watt power amp thru a ampeg 4x10 cab

ART ProChannel II into a Crest Prolite 2.0 is my big rig. I've nicknamed it Miss Budweiser after the unlimited class hydroplane with an Allison aircraft engine that would show up on Wide World of Sports.
I do desire to replace the ART with a more simplistic set of handles. I don't use compression live, and have gotten old enough where it is hard to see all the little writing. All I need these days from a preamp is a gain stage and volume control.

Here's my current rig:
Alembic F-1X preamp, Alembic SF-2 SuperFilter, Crown CE1000 power amp.
Prior to aquiring the F-1X two or three years ago I either used the SF-2 as a preamp, or, for almost 30 years I used an Intersound IVP.
Prior to aquiring the CE1000 I used a QSC 1400, and before that a Peavey M-3000. I've also borrowed a number of power amps over the years to pair up w/ my front end du jour.
ime any power amp from the Big Names™ (i.e., Crown, Crest, or QSC) will be essentially indistinguishable from one another (provided the power output matches your speakers and the input sensetivity matches your front end). The only power amps I've used that sounded different from -- and uniquely worse than -- a Crown/Crest/QSC were a Carver PM-1.5 (strangely "soft" attack, no low-end punch at all) and every Peavey power amp I've ever used (no dynamic headroom whatsoever).
The IVP had a lot of equalization power so it was really easy to dial in whatever tone I was looking for quickly. Also, the faux-"Tube" circuit was fun to play around with when I wanted raging distortion, though I only used that for very rare special effects. The F-1X is less versatile, although it sounds so good (and has the classic Fender tone stack circuit) that it rarely needs much tweaking. And when it does, the SF-2 is there to destroy all monsters.

Hah! I knew there was someone out there still using one of these besides me!
I use an Ashdown RPM1 John Entwistle Signature Model with a PLX 2402 and I switch out from time to time to an F-1X.
Used the Demeter 400 as a preamp into the Quilter BB800 and it was fantastic.

I have a CE1000 here I hadn't thought about it but I should throw it in a rack with my trace V type pre ...
Ampeg SVP-Pro-->Crown xsl1002.
Shown here in my DIY rack. I bought rack rails and handles and used scrap plywood. My shop teacher would give it a C minus, but it does the job.
