Precision Bass dilemma

You need two P's - one with flats and the other with roundwounds.
If you really do have a surpluss of Precisions, keep the one you like the sound of and which plays the best. Colour doesn't matter when you're playing an instrument. If you can find one in a store though, make sure you try the current American Professional Precision - if you find a good one you'll be smitten!

A high end pbass doesn't sound right for me. Keep both and strung one with flats as said above.
Exactly. Keep 'em. Just because another P might be "high end", it doesn't mean that it will automatically sound or play better.
I once had a Squier Matt Freeman P bass which I really regret selling.

Yes, the bass has enough mids to cut through, but it can sound very low too. Currently wears GHS precision flats.
I always received very good response when using the bass in a studio.

set each one up slightly differently, be it flats or rounds, or take a punt on different pick ups. There are so many good pick ups out there

Definitely keep both. You don't need to spend big bucks for a decent PBass. One thought, keep one in standard tuning and the other in BEAD if you music requires any drop tuning. Otherwise, string one with flats and the other with rounds. 
I'd keep both for now, one with rounds and one with flats. If you find a higher end bass you can't pass up sell one or both.
What particular features were you looking for in a high end P-bass (and define "high end"?) that a run-of-the-mill production bass doesn't provide? (Not being sarcastic, BTW)
Personally I feel that having two identical basses would be somewhat a waste of studio real estate and money, but that's for my situation - yours could be different. I haven't jumped on the whole "you need a backup bass" bandwagon yet since I've never experienced a real* bass failing on me in about 20 years.
*that one time a string broke on that absolute piece of firewood that was my Squier HM doesn't count

I am quite OCD about craftmanship, and I like a well made product with good quality materials. I dig Sadowskys or Mike Lulls for example, and would like to have one.
Disclaimer: I have 15 basses and no two are alike. I love the sound each one creates, from my $150 Rondo violin bass to my 3k Drake customs. But my MIJ Fender Jazz Bass Specials set the standard for quality for me, bought new in the 80s. I compare everything to them. If you love the way they play and they meet your high standards and you have two, you have the high end basses you seek and $ to spend on strings to make them sound different. (Flats and rounds have vastly different sound on my JBSs)
Of course some days you may just dig the colour of one above the other, match your outfits etc.

Keep both, have rounds on the torqoise one (spelling?) and put flats on the sunburst
