Why not make your own like i did? I have a shell pink p body. A geddy lee jazz neck a babicz bridge and g&l mfd pickups. Its wired like an sb1... I love that bass.

I've never been a fan of "reliced" basses, but I recently had a chance to play a Nash P and I have to say, it was one of the best sounding/best playing P-basses I've ever had the pleasure to play.
It might just become my 1st reliced bass purchase....

That is correct. They can be found for less than $200 used, usually ~$150. Mid to late 80s models are the best in my opinion.

According to this 1996 owner's manual, the topnut width is 1.5", which is in line with a jazz.

You can buy necks and bodies straight from Fender and roll your own. I did one with mexi sunburst body, maple jazz neck, and Duncan quarter pounder P. Easy to put together, cheaper than buying a mexi P.

the parts came from g&l's website best bass gear and a geddy lee jazz i bought for 400 and sold for 200 without the j neck but had the p neck from the bass i repainted...

The SB-1 is the bass I've really been gassing for, but I didn't think it would come with a Jazz neck. Do you have to do special orders with G&L? You can't just go to a music store and they have the latest models?

You can special order G&Ls from any authorized dealer. You pick the neck, frets, color, etc.

My SB-1 has a Jazz neck. It's an awesome bass, the tone knob takes it from an aggressive/bright P to warm P sound. They're very loud basses--not noisy just lots of output there. When I switch to my Fender P I have to turn my gain up to about 2X it's SB-1 setting.

You can get some obscenely good deals on used ones, check out GC's online used section. People could say many things about Peavey, but they have some sick necks...very comfy for those who favor thinner ones.

There's one for sale (maybe) here on TB. A red Fury with a white pickguard. I've contacted the seller. I have a problem, and I think the first step is admitting it. My problem is that I don't think that my wife is ready for me to acquire another bass.
