I would take my Jazz (2003 Am. Ser.) over either of my Precisions ('94 MIJ Foto Flame and 2004 Am. Ser.), but I'm just waiting for the perfect P to come along. Think I'll gaze at that USA Lakland Glaub with P/J and Jazz neck on Bass Central's site for the, uh, hundredth time.

One of each, right now I have a Fender american deluxe p bass, but eventually will own a jazz as well( although not a fender)

I think its the three tone sunburst, anyway, the sound of this bass is awesome, it cuts thru guitar distortion like butter. As a side note, I use this bass primarily for fingerstyle playing. I play everything from funk to rock to jazzy stuff ( though Im not quite a "jazz bass player") however, I use other basses for slap ( not the strong point for a p-bass). I think if I could own only one bass and it would be a choice between a jazz and p-bass, I would own a jazz bass because they are more versatile than p-basses. But if you do not care to play the "slap and pluck" style of playing and you want a nice simple straight ahead rock bass, this is it.
