I joined my friends "INDIE" band and we all agree we want a pretentious name, apparently we sound like death cab, minus the bear and mgmt. nothing seems to fly with them cause we are all pretentious

If you're going to go with a pretentious name, then go way over the top. Either camp it up big time and really make it work for you, or don't play at all.
