Why did he change his name? If the reason doesn't matter, cool. Lame... but it's cool.

Is there a reason to dwell on Prince? Something that would make you start a thread about someone you obviously don't care for?

The name change was actually really cool, it was a loophole. His record label was screwing with his music: So he said, Fine, screw with Prince's music, I'm changing my name. It fixed things, gave him some attention, he went back when the legal problems died down. I see nothing "lame" about sticking it to labels.

His music, I don't really get it either, but I wouldn't start a thread in Off Topic randomly bashing a musician: I'd put it in Misc. ;)

the guy freakin' rewrote the book on modern r&b in the 80s. was able to convincingly merge it w/ rock 'n roll, paved the way for guys like lenny kravitz, living colour, fishbone, etc. not to mention wrote the one modern day rock opera that matters, i.e. purple rain. and puts on one motherF&ckin' kickass live show i've ever witnessed.

he's a demi'god in my book.

Why the hatin' thread? Did he knock over your trashcan, or steal a gig from you? Did someone force you to listen to his music?

he is a wicked talented musician, dancer and singer. his music has soul man.

Agreed. Prince is a living legend.

His live shows are incredible, too. Last time I saw him he busted out some of Stanley Clarke's "Lopsy Lu" during his bass solo... :bassist:
