Prince is lame

Contrary to popular opinion, knocking others will not make oneself seem taller...

I'm already quite a bit taller than Prince.

I admit that it is lame of me to start a ___ is lame thread. I saw the Prince v. Paris thread which made me like him a little better. I hear so many people just gushing about him and his gimmicky little persona is just so contrived. For goodness sake--the guy is 50 years old--and hes still doing the same bit that he was 25 years ago. I'm just bitter--and last time I checked that wasn't against the rules:D

i agree whole heartedly

Cool logo.

The name change was actually really cool, it was a loophole. His record label was screwing with his music: So he said, Fine, screw with Prince's music, I'm changing my name. It fixed things, gave him some attention, he went back when the legal problems died down. I see nothing "lame" about sticking it to labels.

His music, I don't really get it either, but I wouldn't start a thread in Off Topic randomly bashing a musician: I'd put it in Misc. ;)

:D :D :D
I almost missed that; very funny!

The guy can write
the guy can sing
the guy can play

Prince had a huge influence on pop R&B in the late 70s and early 80s

The guy can pretty much play with any musician at any time he desires

The guy broke a lot of industry rules about bands, bizniz and songwriting

The guy hired female musicians and treated women players as equals, also launched a couple of major female careers

Even if you don't personally dig his style, there is no question he has a great creative imagination, musical talent and the savvy to get it out there
- with OR without major record label distribution

I wasn't a major fan, but I sure admired his "balls" - THAT'S rock and roll!!

Bryan316 and ryco, I think you summed it up quite well! We've had several gigs when during a break, the girls wanted the sound guy (who would bring several CD's) to play "P***y Control" and they would get absolutely "take me home NOW and...." ...sorry, can't finish or I would get banned.:hiding:

Dig him or not, he's doing something right.
