Problems with my head. Help PLEASE

Allright well I currently am using a Gallien Krueger 800 RB head for my bass. Here is my story.... Earlier this morning I was playing my bass threw my GK head and My Ampeg amp and it was fine. I have my bandmates come over and we setup the drums guitar an PA to start practicing. Now while playing a couple notes while everyone is getting settled in i start to hear my amp start to make a noise like my low D string is still playing but im not touching the strings. I play the string again and it goes away. Then later on we were playing a song and then there was no sound coming out of my amp. I get mad and start to check out everything. I check my bass input for loose connection but its fine, Check my cables but there fine too. When it started working again id play. Then it started buzzing making the noise where it kept going and i wasnt playing so i would give the top of the head a little hit and it would go away but kept coming back. We are playing a song again and i smell smoke so i immediatly shut it off and pull out the power plugs. I plug it back in and turn it ond and now it makes a steady noise like just one note non stop every time i turn the amp on. And I could not play anything threw it now. So..... If anyone can please help me i would love it. It's the only head I have so i cant play without it And it started not working right in the middle of us making a song. So please please please anyone try and give me some answers ill tell you everything u need to know about it if it helps. The only thing I would think it is, is a loose wire but why did it start smoking i dont know. please help

man, burnt resistors smell awful......... my band uses this giant biamp PA console, and it smoked a resistor last week. With actual smoke and everything. It was pretty funny, but the smell lasted forever.

I also use an 800RB; it's a great amp. Good luck with it!

Resistors don't burn up by themselves, they are passive components. Something has to blow them so you have an amp with a problem. You are doing the right thing in taking it to a tech.

I too have an 800RB but mine is in pieces just the way I bought it off Ebay. I'll get round to repairing it one day.
