Project bass

Ok... here is my idea....

I have an old Yamaha RBX 170... going to tear it apart... strip it.. repaint it... put this neck on it:

yea I know it's gunna be a lot of work... what I am asking is 2 things....

1. Any advice on striping the body of the bass or just have at it with a sander....

2. and any input on this would be greatly appreciated :)
 
you could use a stripping agent first, but sander and some 80-100-120-150-and 220 will do you just fine. make sure the neck you are replacing and the neck you replace it with are compatible...scale, 3 of frets, heel size, heel depth, etc. it must be placed properly at scale to function properly as an instrument, you can run into all kinds of adjustment issues if you try to put a 20 fret neck where there were 24, or 22. just a heads up for ya.
