I swapped an old shine bass I had (which I didn't like the sound of) for a Squire Precision which was in quite bad condition. The original pickguard had been swapped by a previous owner to another white pickguard (I'm guessing they broke the first one) and had done a pretty bad job of it - they cut the neck pocket and pickup holes in it very roughly, the electronics needed an overhaul and it was missing a knob.
Anyway I decided to swap the pickguard out with a tortoise one and swap the knobs. It has quite a lot of chips in the paintwork but I decided to leave the paintwork because I quite like the mojo - all genuine wear!
Here it is before my work.
And here it is now.
I'm really pleased with the result. The tortoise pickguard looks more brownish in person. It plays and sounds nice too. What do you all think?
