Projekt In Progress: "Jazz-Ray" Build

Had a similar choice once between moving traffic and a parked car, still have the scar from the stitches... Heal well.

Definitely watching this build... ;)
Stitches?! Yeesh! Sounds like you bashed yourself up worse than me! :blackeye: Still, as long as everything is still functional, that's cool. If nothing else, "battle scars" make for interesting conversation pieces.

Piece of cake. This Bart chart should give you plenty of choices that will work with any 2 coil pickup.

You have to pick one or the other, or compromise. I'm pretty sure the spacing between 60's & 70's is narrower than the spacing between the 2 coils.

EDIT: Just measured my MM and the coils are just under an inch apart. I think the 60-70 difference is 3/8" or so.
Thanks bunches for that .pdf, Trust! This will be incredibly helpful when (or knowing myself, "IF") I turn my energies towards that particular projekt.

So, unless someone comes up with a compelling argument against it, I think I'll likely go with the '70s-style placement for the rear single-coil. Magnetically-speaking, it'll give the pickups some "breathing room" (assuming that even matters over that distance). Sonically, it would allow for something approximating a '70s-era Jazz if I used this particular switching configuration…

3-Way Switch Configuration.jpeg

…after all, I have a 3-way mini-switch and a control plate from a Fender Reggie Hamilton Jazz. I may as well use up as much of the loose bits & pieces I have lying around in the process, right?

I like your choice of series/parallel/single as it gives the iconic Stingray sound and the Sterling tone. The 60-70s thing is subtle to me at least. I'd favor the 60's as that's closer to the MM position and I prefer to not have that moved towards the bridge. I have an OLP Stingray with a P pickup right next to it. That puts the P less than 1/4" from it's traditional spot. It's passive and could be my favorite sounding of a dozen or so basses.

This is why we have so many basses :)

That's actually a very good point. I have the measurements for the modern Music Man "H" and "HH" configured Stingrays. Since I already have a very nice projekt built around a '70s Jazz reissue body, perhaps zeroing in on the MM placement schema would be ideal. Ultimately, I'll probably go along with whichever placement eats up the original single-coil bridge route.
