Much thanks to Rick Jones for getting me a replacement speaker for my AI Ten2 combo. I experienced a noticeable rattle in the speaker cone after 7 months or so of awesome performance, and from the time I first emailed him this last Sunday I have a replacement speaker. Wow. Setting the bar high indeed.

Now to get back to the shed.....

Even on the dealer end they're heads and shoulders above the rest. The shop I picked it up from is a Mom-and-Pop, and typically if you want to get a piece of gear from a company that isn't respresented by one of your established distributors you have to agree to get a minimum amount of gear, usually around $10,000 for that first order. My guy up there told me flat out that it wouldn't be likely that he could get if for me.

He attempted to get a Gage pickup and an AMT mic but was told that he had to order XX amount of gear to get anything at all, and didn't think he could move any extra pieces in a market that isn't exactly full of gear-savvy upright players. According to him Rick Jones was glad to get this order going and was great to deal with on top of it all.

Rick sent me a new crossover for my several years old, been around the world twice on planes Contra EX. I noticed it went bad just days before I was set to leave the States for a return to Hong Kong. It went bad because I think the cabinet got SLAMMED on the plane, the coil that feeds the woofer became detached, and was just hanging by the wire. He Fedex'd a new one to me, no charge. An easy swap, the speaker sounds great again like it always does.

Im really glad to see this thread, 'specially from one of my brothers here in OKC. My contra crapped out on the gig 2 nights ago. Seems thermal, but I know nothing about the "under the hood" part of the amp. Wish me luck.

I bought my amp directly from Rick, at the ISB that was here in '07.

Similar story here. My Clarus stopped working while I was practicing one day. I wasn't even sure if I would be able to get it fixed, considering it was 10 years old and probably had thousands of hours of use on it, but when I called Rick, he said, "just send it in and we'll get it running again for you." He received it on a Monday, and it was back in my hands that Thursday (yes, just 3 days after he got it). That amp is surely one of the best gear purchases I've ever made.

I've been having problems with the HPF/Notch filter switches on my series 2 Clarus. A quick phone call to Rick this morning and he emailed me a FedX return authorization so he could do the repair on his dime. I'll pay shipping one way but that's cheap for a ten year old amp. Top notch service.

I would like to reiterate all of the gushing praise above. The power switch and connector failed on my Series III Clarus 2R. I was bummed because of a gig coming up in about a week and a half.

I got lazy and didn't ship it out until the Monday before the Friday gig. I had already decided to use the backup amp, an old Hartke that has, literally, been through a flood.

Whaddya know? Here it is Friday afternoon, and guess what's sitting in my lap? And they proactively replaced a couple of things that might give me trouble later on.

This is the cleanest amp I've ever played through. It's extremely portable. It's got enough power for everything I've ever thrown at it. And NOW I find out that the warranty service is top notch, too.

My only regret about owning this thing is that it is so small and light that I am afraid I might lose it.

This little amp was worth every penny I paid for it and more.

No clips for you. But E Bass sounds super clean, like hearing your E Bass in a studio. At least through the AI Contra speaker! Some people might like a sound that has more "hair" on it for E Bass, but if you want clean and can live with "not too loud" AI brings it!
