First bolded entry - I agree, basing a country on a religion not everyone shares doesn't make sense.

Second bolded entry - Keep womens power in check Most prostitutes have a history of abuse, moreso than a lack of education or being poverish. That's why the can easily fall under the power and abuse of a pimp type figure. Some call girls are actually highly educated and found that making $4000 a night is easlier than $2,500 a month at a day job.

Um, I was digging a little bit deeper into the underlying issue of a woman's present place in Western culture/society and Christianity. There is an interesting 80s book out on this subject by Peter McWilliams titled Ain't Nobody's Business if You Do: The Absurdity of Consensual Laws in a Free Society (a Billie Holiday song title). A well written, entertaining and easy read explaining the history behind these laws (drugs, gambling, sex, etc) and the powers that got these kinds of laws on the book. Great author - to bad the American gov't choose to let him Link Removed.

Yes I agree, usually women will fall pray to the power and abuse of a male figure. Now that we live in a paternal society, women are "second place" to men. Was a time when the two were equal. At some point he church "demoted" the woman's "station" to subservient and threw out a lot of the biblical books by women. The woman's belief systems were then looked upon as pagan (read:bad) and their studies in large part are now what is known as "Wiccan". Fun facts: "Mary" is not just a name, it's a title bestowed on a high priestess - a Mari. The male counterparts were called "Maji" (the three wise men in the Bible story) also the root for the word "magic".

I've known a couple of women who were call girls who made very good money at it. No pimps involved. Very beautiful as ppl and physically gorgeous. Weird thing is they both held down good paying full time jobs as well. One a waitress at a very high end restaurant and the other worked in a carburetor (engine) shop. Choice.
