PS3 = owned.

Bassmonkeee, no offence dude but chill out. You seem to be getting pretty worked up about the whole Xbox pwning Sony thing. I'm so over hardcore PlayStation fans who constantly shun any other console that enters the market.

Moving onto my opinion, I played a PS3 for about 20 mins in store (hehe, I love hogging the consoles) and was totally unimpressed. Same uncomfortable controller... and the two demo's (some F1 game and that Motostorm game which everyone is ranting on about) were pretty boring. Every console has it's crap games, but the thing I like about my 360 is that there are all these awesome groundbreaking games coming out like Halo 3, Bioshock, Assasins Creed and Oblivion. Even then when the game gets a tad old there is a tonne of downloadable content off Live. Plus I got mine for $650AU the second week it was out with a free game. How can you go wrong?

Now please, take my opinion in, and don't flame me.

Well, that might be a plan! It'll probably be like the Gamecube...one or two decent games will come out that will make me want to buy it, but apart from that, it'll just be a room decoration.

Man the Gamecube was such a letdown. I got one all happy with my purchase, played Mario Sunshine which was pretty cool... then what... no more decent games for the whole time it's been out.   Eventually got a PS2 which broke in less than a year... But it was my fault so meh.

I got the Gamecube for the Resident Evil re-releases and Resident Evil 4. Animal Crossing and the Harvest Moon games were pluses too.

I had 4 PS2 burn out on me. I had to borrow my little brothers just to play God of War II, and I'm keeping it for Manhunt II.

About 60% of the people I know who have PS2's are on their 3rd one or so. I don't get it, its like how people buy and Ipod, it breaks, then they go out and buy another one, it breaks, then they go get another one.

Who's getting worked up? I'm simply engaging in a conversation. I haven't spent more than two minutes on any post in this thread--I can just type fast. Again--I don't really care if someone likes the PS3, or not. My first post might have seemed a bit pissy, but the thread starter was quoting information that was simply flat out wrong as the death knell of a system barely 5% into its lifespan with no source whatsoever.

How can you get any opinion of something in 20 minutes in a store? Oh, and the version of Motorstorm that serves as the in store demo is not the same finished product that was released, FYI.

Assassin's Creed is being developed on the PS3 as the primary console. So, the XBox 360 version will be a port. And, Oblivion was also available for the PS3 with improved load times and slightly better textures with the Knights of the Nine included with the game (as opposed to being a charged for add-on). So, no advantage there (although there are certain add-ons currently available for the 360 that aren't available for the PS3--yet).

There is nothing groundbreaking about Halo 3. I'm sure it'll be a fun shooter with decent physics and great online play, but "groundbreaking?" Hardly.

Bioshock looks pretty cool. That one should sell some systems for Microsoft.

I'm sure you'll take my post as flaming simply because I make comments on different aspects of your post, but that's not my intent, I assure you.

I've had my launch PS2 since well....launch. Never had a single problem with it in 7 years.

And, have you seen the defect rate in XBox360s? If you thought the PS2 was bad....

Same for me - my PS2 has worked for well over 5 years ..

Whereas I have had so many problems with Microsoft software at work and home, I would never trust them to make a decent piece of hardware! :p

I don't play console games that much - but I like a good RPG as well as Snooker and Golf games - it'll probably be one of these that gets me to buy a PS3 - but not for a while yet!

I have really enjoyed FF12 on PS2 - if the next one is as good and only on PS3 - that might do it...:p

Well, from what I have heard, the Tiger Woods 2007 that launched with the PS3 is not that great.

I've been playing the Hot Shots Golf 5 demo from the Hong Kong PS store and it's a lot of fun, but I'm getting sick of the same 3 holes.

So, I think you're safe for a while, Bruce.

There are some cool RPGs coming out in the future, though. White Knight looks particularly epic. And, of course, the requisite Final Fantasy.

Oh, and I doubt very seriously that Resident Evil will be PS3 exclusive. Even if it comes out first, I'm sure it'll just be a timed exclusive. The days of third party exclusives are over, I think. With game budgets growing to match Hollywood blockbusters, it simply won't be feasible to only release on one system as a third party developer.

Heh--I just always get a kick out of people proclaiming Microsoft the "Good Guys" in the console war. I guess some people have selective memories when they want to make a point.

It'd be nice if everyone realized that giant corporations aren't your friend. I certainly don't think of Sony as my friend. I just never liked the XBox controller, was always happy with my PS2, and wanted Bluray ability out of the box without a cheesy add-on.

I have the 360 and here are a few pro's and con's.

Pros:
-I can get some really great used games for cheap in Amazon or eBay. Games like Rainbow 6, GRAW, Splinter Cell and Condemned are sold at almost half of their original prices. With PS3, used games are still expensive due to its later launch; and let's not talk about selection.
-Xbox Live. Very user friendly. Paying $50 plus per year is equivalent to less than 20 cents a day. Well worth it.

Cons:
-Feature for feature, PS3 provides better value. I have the 360 premium @ $400. I bought the wireless adapter @ $100. If I'm to add the HD-DVD drive, that's extra $200. PS3 has everything I've just mentioned plus a harddrive with 40 gigs more memory at $600. If my monitor has DVI or HDMI input, I would've also bought the PS3.
-This is a personal "con". I'm a big baseball fan and 360 only has the MLB 2K7, which pretty much sucked except for graphics. PS3 has MLB 07 The SHow, a series that I've been a fan of since 3 years ago. If 360 has a decent baseball game, I'm one happy camper.

And, have you seen the defect rate in XBox360s? If you thought the PS2 was bad....

That's like saying that macs never get virus'. There are mac viruses, it's just that tha percentage of mac computers in comparison to Pc's make that judgement pretty farfetched.

Same thing with 360 to PS3. If there were an almost equal amount of systems out on the market (or sold for that matter) then that afrgument could be valid.

It's not like the ps3's that have been shipped have been totally perfect.

The PS3 should have been released with big system seller titles.

Like Final Fantasy 13, Grand Theft Auto 4 and some other games like that. Meh, none of the new machines really are that great except the Wii to me, though the controller annoys me.

Wow, there is some serious nerd warriors in this thread. I own a Xbox 360 which I bought for myself for xmas. The PS3 wasn't out in the UK at the time. I might pick up a PS3 if they come down in price a bit but seriously, you kids put way too much thought into this. Like what you like, who cares which console p3wns which other console. If you have fun playing what you play then why the hell do you care which console you DIDNT buy?

:rollno:

I've been pretty disappointed with this new generation of consoles anyhow. I actually went through 4 xbox 360s before i got one that wasn't faulty (they all red light of doomed me within a month). The games just seem like the last generation of games but with bloom lighting. When is someone gonna make a kickass zombie rpg?
