Punk song recommendations

Hello, I've been listening to the Stooges and the Germs lately and was looking for recommendations for punk songs to learn?

You can not go wrong starting with the Original godfathers of the entire punk scene MC5!

Return of the Fly and Hybrid Moments from The Misfits are fun

Big fan of Misfits. There are some interesting subtleties to their songs that are easy to miss (nothing crazy genius, but still interesting).
Samhain stuff took me a bit longer to like, and they aren't capital-P "punk" but if you're gonna consider Misfits stuff, then they are worth a look. Try:

I second The Stranglers. Check out The Best Of The Stranglers 1977-1990. The whole album is awesome, but if you want conventional punk, tracks 1, 2 or 3 ("No More Heroes" is a must). If you're a little more open-minded to avant-garde, any of tracks 6-11 IMHO are brilliant and more interesting musically.

Stooges...Germs... The WEIRDOS come to mind:



It was one of the first american punk bands i got know late 70s.
And this song is incredible short, it's all been said - "Why Do You Exist".

I played in a punk band pissed midgets. You can check it out on YouTube. I played on the later tracks starting at midget theme song. The other bassist is a buddy of mine, both of us are worth a listen. Check it out !

As an old punk myself, check out the punk/postpunk bands Public Image Limited, Wire, Gang of Four, Magazine, Joy Division, Buzzcocks, The Jam, The Stranglers, The Pop Group etc. - many of these band from the UK scene has great basslines

The Jam and Joy Div. were both great bands, but hardly punk. The Jam were central to the mod revival, and Joy Div was new wave. Tin foil hat on.
