DR Helborg Signature
The construction of the Helborgs is unique: Pure Nickel outer wrap, but only a single wrap wire per string. The core is exposed at the Tuner end, which makes installation a bit strange
Below is a close-up picture of the Helborg set installed, with a .105 E string from a Pyramid Pure Nickel set laid between the E&A of the Helborgs for reference. Notice how beefy the single wrap of the Helborg E string is!
Sonically, the Helborgs are the most focused & precise string of any type that I’ve tried. There is no low end mud or high end harmonic fog with these strings, just a focused & balanced fundamental note. I installed this set on my Jazz Bass a while ago, and while I liked them I didn’t really connect with them on that bass. (I think a round set with MORE harmonic complexity lends itself nicely to a Jazz...) I put them on my Ash P bass to give them a second try and I really like what they bring to that bass... these would be great recording strings, if your technique is good and you can keep the string noise down 
That being said, I’m finding that the Helborgs become more comfortable with a little play time. At first I found them to be very rough feeling, but after the last few hours of play they seem a lot more slick - more akin to a set of GHS Pressurewounds.
Helborgs are focused and tonally balanced, not really modern or old-school... they are their own thing. They’re medium-high tension for a set of round core .100s, and produce beautifully tight notes. Good job DR for producing such a unique string. These are a pleasant surprise and I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a less “zingy”, more focused Roundwound.
