Purple Fender?

Squier's new Affinity Jazz comes in Purple

My friend has a purple Squier Precision. Its liek a ten year old model. Its a bit darker than this one above. I really like the color anyway and tried to have him sell it to me.

A buddy has a purple '59 P he has had since 1960. Unfortunately, I have no pix. He also has a purple '59 Strat.

... the Purple Metallic was offered on the run of early American Standard basses from '94 1/2 all the way up to the transition into the American Series in 2000 when the color was discontinued ... the paint code was 793 ... although the files show being offered for the entire 5 year run, I have never seen one with an older than '98 serial # ... below I have linked an example of the color on a bass that is currently listed on Ebay (if you can see the color through all the 'bling') .. the bass linked would be one of the last offered in this color, being from around Oct '99 ...

at the last NAMM show, there was a stunning purple, custom shop, Jazz bass. It had a rosewood board and a black, anondized aluminum pickguard. Flame maple neck. Stunning. It was dark purple like the fender posted above.

That color is Midnight Blue. the counter color to Midnight Wine. First released in the early 90's on MIA Fenders. I have a Jazz in that color. A little later Fender did a metallic purple.

Dayup. Had a MIM P I flipped long ago in that shade.

I walked into a music store on the Northside of Syracuse NY and they had a American Standard Stratocaster in midnight blue in the window. I commented to the friend who was with me, "If they have a Jazz Bass in that color, I'll buy it right now." And they did. And I still have it.

They did the Midnight Blue in a Squier P as well - and it often does look purple-ish depending on the lighting. Maybe a little hard to see in this pic.
