CCouch7 - Your boards seem to get better with every iteration, and this one is no exception! Did it take you long to build it and everything? Would be good to have a gutshot with your shelf opened up.

EDIT: Just found your build thread, very impressive.
Thanks, I appreciate that man!
I kinda took my time building it because I haven't been gigging in the past few months. But now I'm joining a three piece so hopefully I can give it a work out!

Ccouch7, that is a very clean board. I hope you get the MXR endorsement! You are certainly showing them the love. I have to agree, they make great stuff. The only thing I couldn't get into was their envelope filter, and have not tried their new fuzz yet, although by all accounts it's very good.
Thanks! yea I love the MXR stuff.
The filter is the only one I've owned except for the EH BassBalls but I do like it.
Just curious which Filter did you go with?

I am using three EFs right now- the Haz MuTron III+ I bought around 15 years ago, a Q-Tron+, and a Source Audio BEF (standard, non-Pro). I have also tried the Boss AW-3 on gigs and found it wanting, and a large number of pedals in music stores, including the MXR a few different times. Right now I'm using the Haz for an "up" slow quack, the Q-Tron+ for a "down" quick chirp (with the OC-2 and the SP in its effect loop), and the SA for a slower "down" glurp or with the HH controller for some wobbles. The SA's Phasor settings also sound great triggered and with the HH.

Last weekend I tried out my guitar player's board, and he has a WMD Super Fatman which was really nice, doing a great job on long filter sweeps, but we seemed to be having more trouble getting quicker quacks or chirps out of it. Still a beautiful sounding EF. I am really gassing for 3Leaf audio filters, a Proton to replace my Haz-Tron and a Wonderlove to replace the Q-Tron+, which has a fairly significant signal boost that makes it hard to use with stacked effects.

Dude, this board is outstanding! What case is that you're using? Honestly, I love everything about this setup...and it DOES NOT help my GAS for a Multidrive.
Thank you sir! The case is a DAP Audio D7401 lighting mixer case I ordered from overseas
after seeing a few other people make them into pedalboards.
The Multidrive is sweet!:smug:

Long time coming, I'll admit, but I had some time this afternoon. There is one pedal missing from the board: my Morley Power Wah Boost, which cannot fit on the board, nor in the case. I have to clear up my floor before I can run my board.

As for pedalboard no. 2, here is the latest bit of news: I will probably get a few yards of floor moulding. They'll probably come in 1-yard lengths, and I'll have to explain the whole affair to my dad, with whom I drive to and from work.

Speaking of work, here's something I saw on my truck yesterday:

Set up for the next few months of shows (including FEST in FL. at the end of Oct.). I'm diggin the whammy in place of my oc-2. Im sure it'll be back , but for now I like having the whammy for chorus, up and down oct, and cool whale screams. Also will be replacing the VT with the Verellen Meatsmoke Pre as soon as it arrives. As for the Heliotropic, it is the most versatile and unique fuzz I've had in a while. So much more than just the Failure tone. Cheers to Ryan for making what I feel is his best pedal yet!!

Ah ha, a fellow muff'n user, is that your main setting?

For my guitar, yes. My bass, however, is a different story. Since I procured the Muff'n around the same time as my brother's Ampeg, I had to allocate my time to the amp, because I needed to put it through its paces. That, and until I replaced the tubes, it wasn't performing to my expectations. I went with a 5751 and a 12AX7, respectively. It really made it shine.

What did replacing those tubes do to the sound specifically and why did you feel the need to change them?

Did they just add more gain or did they change the sound in other ways?

Yes to all of them. When I received the pedal, I was getting a really splatty, not at all useful sound. It wasn't opening up like a tube overdrive should. It sounded like something was congested, and wasn't functioning properly. So, I decided that I needed to go with new tubes, because the tubes loaded in the pedal when I purchased it were obviously stock, and I didn't know the age or disposition of them. When I decided that I was getting new tubes, I had to do some research into the subject; a search on EHX's forum lead me to try a 5751 and a 12AX7. It does add more gain, and it actually works properly.

I chose the 5751, as opposed to two 12AX7s, because the gain would have been unbearable. I don't know what two 5751s would do.
