PYPB 41 - Fred The Goldfish

A picture just for fun ...

Time to rip the board up and rearrange things again, to squeeze in the Tech 21 Bass Boost Chorus
which is a bigger pedal than the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe it replaces. Everything must fit and
function as intended with all pedals within the taped mockup lines, then I'll move them onto the
board and connect the George Ls. The board was really full already, don't know if it will actually
fit this time, it's down to millimeters ... grown man's Lego I think this game has been called here. :)

You have some very nice pedals. Just about every one of those has been or is on my GAS list.

Just don't wear clown shoes. 1950s pointy shoes are better. :)

I just LOL'd!

But yeah Ben you must not be.....balanced because you have seen my board and with size 14 shoes.....no issues..

BUT!

I usually play with socks at home and usually take my shoes off at gigs (I'm not a fan of shoes but LOVE socks!)
(I even drive with socks or barefoot!)

Thanks guys. The H9 is a lot of fun so far. Takes the place of 1 mobius, the pitchfactor and I can probably pull the tuner off too. It's actually faster than the Turbo Tuner.

Really?

I just tried to buy a used Turbo here, but the guy's schedule and mine never matched so we both gave up.

If the H9 is truly faster than a Turbo tuner... :hyper:

My PitchBlack is pretty good, but it and every other tuner I've tried still has trouble with the E on my doublebass — How is the H9 on recognising the low end?

Killer board, very GASsy with the pedals of course and the board itself. Dig the two Expressionators.

since it's implementing models of all the other Eventide stompies i'm sure it's not cutting any lows. blends everywhere too.

meh. i gots size 13's. i don't fall over too often when i'm trying to multi-task like keys, bass, gum, pedals. but i have my Nimbus, M9, Timeline and Pitch Facter almost touching each other all naughty style on my top row and the switches on the far right are hard as BUTTS to hit without mashing the next pedals far left switch. or vicey versey.

that might be the main difference from tight-packing center mounted switches? which i also don't like but it's not as disastrous.

You're not the only one. I have the a behringer trem too. It's the other one though. I just picked up a boost pedal to help it a little. It works great, it's just that the volume drop is way too drastic. I also have a fuzzrocious tremorslo and that one really pushes volume big time. I need to get the volume mod done. The only thing that I wish it would do is machine gun stutter. I drops sort of short of that. But overall, killer trem.

That's the real expensive one right? I'm looking at $80 or less. I'd rather not pay that much but you know how it is when you want something.

Yeah, exactly, that's why I still don't have it, it's expensive. I got the tremorslo through a trade. Even the empress trem I've considered but that one is even more expensive than the elements. Maybe someday I'll get a really nice trem, expensive one, but for now I'll enjoy what I have. I hear the Lovepedal Babyface trem is pretty damn good and inexpensive. As far as trems go anyway.

moop. HAWT.

also, you're a better tap dancer than i. i'm stoopid impatient for my H9 to get a few more inches (giggety) swapping it out for the Pitch Factor so i can keep my multi's not touching each other like that.

I. AM. CLUMSY.

I definitely wouldn't say I'm a better tap dancer than you! I NEVER step on the Mobius or Timeline... I use the DMC-4 to control everything with those and the WET is on all the time, I just change the mix/depth for different tunes.

Navigating presets with the H9 is really nice (left switch is bypass, right switch is UP preset, then if you need to navigate down presets you can step on the center disc to make the right stomp change direction). Really easy to navigate. You can hold it for Tap Tempo, or press both switches (timeline style) to access the Tuner, then press either stomp to exit Tuner Mode. The switches are a little wider apart than the Strymon Pedals so it is a little tricky to hit them both without turning your foot sideways (which can potentially hit something else on the board).

I just LOL'd!

Sillyfabe - I couldn't hit any of the pedals on the lowest row of your pedalboard when you brought it to the TB get-together. The lip of the case you use is too high for me. And my toes are too tender and supple to click switches w/o le rubber sole de shoe haha

Thanks. The tuner is fine with an E and low B. I play an 11-string bass so I have an additional 2 lower strings. The last note it can honestly read is a G0 (octave below 3rd fret on the E of a normal bass). Turbo Tuner can read lower, and saying the H9 is faster doesn't say much, because the TT is plenty fast!

Sir sturdy board as always. btw how's the the H9 on bass? does it lose the lows? can you put a demo on it? thanks :smug:

As behndy said, it's the same as the factors. Retains plenty of low end and and there's a mix too. I dig the TimeFactor, some of the Pitchfactor and most of the Space stuff - not too crazy about the ModFactor stuff... though the Undulator is pretty neat (never played with it before).

You can load in any of the algorithms for 5 minutes each day to play with. Pretty sneaky way to entice purchases... I like it!

To answer your demo question, I'm not much of a demo guy. I play a very non-standard instrument & rig and my technique/style is strange. So, to demonstrate a piece of gear isn't going to help anybody in making a decision as far as determining if it's good for them. However, I do release music with me playing songs with effects, with no accompaniment, so in a way, that's a demo (for example, "Dhalsim" on my last record has very heavy use of the Xerograph Deluxe throughout). At some point, I'll probably be doing videos of me playing stuff but it won't be a demo where I turn knobs and showcase a pedal while playing licks or basslines.

Jean, how are your pedals attached to the board?

I believe the answer you're looking for is in this fantastic little thread: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f36/pedalboard-assembly-go-thread-custom-district-pedalboard-994368/

Not sure which post# but I'm sure you won't mind perusing around a bit. Gotta love this board...

Thanks Bludog! Yeah, that thread will tell you all you need to know. Basically, little plates with 3M dual lock that are "bolted" in place with wing nuts. Very easy to configure and move around.

Jeans board is always killer!!!]

Thanks Couch! If I didn't have the Custom District board, I would probably badger you for a Couch Pedalboard! :D

First TB "pic post", hoping this works <fingers-crossed>. Picked up my 1st bass less than 8 mos ago--caught the pedal bug and purchased a bunch of low-end pedals...in the process of upgrading "a bit at a time". Sad thing is, I'm not sure I'm practicing as much time as I spend researching pedals :hiding:
