OOF. MORE GOODNESS.

this is the most fun i've ever had recording. just an amazing experience.

I'm so jealous. She has had her hands on some of my favorite records of all time. Undertow was literally life changing. As a farm kid in western Nebraska in the 90's, I'd never heard music like that before. Your playing is fantastic, I love how you mix the HH with the rest of your playing. Is the grind coming from your TAFM or the drive within the Manta? Bravo Bro Bridges.

Zwockah-wockah - f'realz. i've never been a HUGE Tool fan, but songs from that first album where the first time i heard bass just filling up everything and crushing in rock/heavier stuff. thanks for the compliment, this is such a fun band. my drummer is SILLY good and i just have so much room to get stoopid in.

it's actually just Depth Charge -> Manta (no distortion on the Manta).

Bad Brad Bassins - lol. but that's all i GOT so far. we just finished the bass recordings, taking a break while the engineer sets up for mixing, then we spend the rest of today and tomorrow mixing everything. it sounds freaking HUGE already, i can not wait to see what they do with it.

HNNNNNNNNGGGGGHGNGHGNHHGG.

d'awwwww! thanks homie. you the sweetest.

we're trying to get it up online before the next weekend before NAMM. i'll DEFINITELY spam the hell out of it. it's not only the most fun and comfortable think i've ever done musically, but way the most proud of too.

last chunk, we're moving on to mixing now -

You gotta turn us on to the album when it's finished behndy. I will most def pick it up. I would love to have an album full of your bass playing.

I'd be interested in checking it out as well! Sounding good so far, Behnderiffico.

I don't think she's ever seen a Hot Hand before. I wouldn't have expected to see a producer that's worked on Tool video recording someone playing. ;) ;)

5sg.

I have room on my board to add the bass whammy when it comes out. :bassist:

EDIT: I guess I should say how I have my effects setup.

Bass -> Boss TU-3 -> Zoom 60b (Comp) -> Boss NS-2 -> Boss HM-2 -> Morley power wah - > Pod HD 500 -> Crown power amp -> 4x10.
Pod HD effects out -> B7K -> Pod HD effects in.

The 60b is running a comp set to add attack/punch when I hit a note and then run away straight after (but my bass sustains for days with my new setup), the Boss NS-2 is set to cut my signal once I mute the strings, I have no problems at all with it cutting to early, Boss HM-2 which I got for guitar so I could get the Swedish melodeath tone, but it sounds great as a fuzzy OD pedal much like a shoegaze tone, the Morley power wah I bough because of Cliff Burton and kind of hated until I put it after my HM-2 and now it sounds so great.

And Finally the Pod HD 500 which gets a lot of **** on this forums since it's not really bass friendly. I have my B7L acting as a preamp which slays any amp modelers so the HD is just doing spacey effects the tap tempo and the ability to turn multiple pedals on and off with on foot switch was the reason I replaced my Zoom B3 this this monster. :)

Sorry for all the typos.

nice stuff Veldz. do you use the Pod as a pre too?

thanks guys! lis, i'll defo spam the **** out of this thing when it's ready. most fun and by far the best sounding music i've ever been involved with. my drummer is a BEAST and they captured his huge angry bits WELL.

5 StreGek - i know right? i am absolute **** at taking compliments ("me trying to accept a compliment is like watching a vending machine try to take a rumpled dollar.... just awkward for everybody."), but she has said some insanely nice things and just seems so happy the whole time we're working. it's so flattering and inspiring.

Nope Just the B7K for my pre, I have it in the FX loop though so I have the option to place effects before or after it which helps a lot with modulation/reverb/delay since the way I have the B7K has a little break up when I dig in and that often turned into mud when I hit hard so having it after cleans up my tone a lot more.

is that your little bass technician? :P

I am also working on cleaning the board up w/ some George l.s or maybe few more pancake connectors.. And def getting a voodoo lab power supply instead of a one spot.. Replacing the tu 2 w/ a mooer orange 90. And the behringer w/ a boss dd7 w/ tap tempo. And running it lmb3, b2, m80, m84/tfr, (whichever I prefer), m234, b3, mooer orange 90, wd7 wah, screamin blues/tube zipper, isp, dd7......... Haha.. Just these few changes.. But good news is I already got the tfr and tube zipper..

Anyone have any issues w/ voodoo labs power 2 or mondo and an ibanez weeping demon wah being noisy and/or improper shielding?? I have heard a few things about this and was curious before I get in too deep... Other than that.. Lotta other changes... But as it stands this is a pretty good board.. Just like lotsa options..

Here is where my board is at:

Zoom CDR is the newest addition. It replaced a EBS DynaVerb that was much loved for many years, although I only ever used it for a tiny amount of plate verb to make my initial string attack sounds longer and fuller. The Zoom does high-def plate reverb just as well, but with so many extra goodies to play with.

Also new is the EHX headphone amp nesting in the top left corner. It frees me up from plugging into the cheap mixing board I was using for home practice. Also gives me a much clearer sound than I was getting through the mixing board and helped me discover the next place for improvement of my pedalboard...

I was about to say this board is complete and finished until I discovered a faint whine in the background through my headphones. That little G-Bus daisy chain power supply has served well for so long, until the Zoom came along and had to ruin a good thing. With the Zoom powered by the daisy chain there is a faint whine present. So now I need to find a simple solution to isolate the power supply to a single pedal while still keeping everything tidy and hidden underneath the board. A typical iso power supply is too large to fit under the Gator board so I'm looking into other options that doesn't involve buying another (bigger) board.
