If all you want is a looper the upcoming TC Ditto (as Childish Gambino pointed out) would be a nice solution that wouldn't take up a lot of space. As for the Flashback and Timeline I think (like pretty much all delay/loopers) that they have some compromises/quirks in terms of using them as loopers to where I think a dedicated looper is probably a better choice.

That said, the Flashback is a great deal for the price and the Timeline is an amazing delay. As long as you view them as delays that CAN do looping as a feature then I think you'll be satisfied.

Thanks for the feedback. I've tried a few dirt pedals, but I guess I just haven't found something that I love. I always feel like I lose too much low end and get lost in the mix live... The current configuration was based on trying to have a logical order and keep my most used effects (BEF, Octabass, and Flanger) in the front row for easy accessibility. To my ears, the envelope is really the only pedal on there that really needs to be in front of the compressor. What specifically would make you put the Octabass and DI before it as well?

As far as wanting a looper, I ended up ditching my Carbon Copy delay and going with the Flashback. I liked the variety of delay options it provided in such a small form factor, and the looper is there to play with too. Once I swapped it in, I immediately loved it and didn't miss the MXR delay one bit... I also dropped the channel footswitch off and squeezed the expression pedal back on, so now things are looking pretty good.

Primarily because I love using an octave pedal and dirt in front of envelope filters to open up lots of new sounds. Same with the Deep Impact. The compressor would simply stay behind the filter with the others getting moved forward in the chain.

A compressor can definitely help the tracking for an octave pedal, but I never liked putting the comp at the front of my chain as it would change my dynamics which I don't like when running an envelope filter.

But again, that's just me. I think there are general guidelines for effect signal chains but in the end whatever works for the player is what they should do.

As for dirt pedals, there are plenty that don't lose low end (or even boost it) but honestly I think the biggest thing that a lot of bass players neglect is just boosting the volume on dirt pedals above unity gain. The more clipping (fuzz clips more than distortion which clips more than overdrive etc) the more I boost the volume. It often seems way too loud when playing alone but works well in a band context.

i have mine in loop a of my dual loop with my odb-3. i have it set to do ah's so in the loop i get distorted aaahhh's. the coolest thing about the pedal is you can hit a note and hold done the foot switch and play other notes while the original note sustains for as long as you hold down the foot switch.

Taking this to band practice tomorrow night. The no-label pedal is a Fuzzrocious Rat Tail that I just got last week, I'm not really sure where I'm going to fit it in, but I'll do my best! Otherwise I need a few new cables, and I'd like a PP2+ to power this all up. I'm also going to grab the new MXR bass overdrive when it comes out to A/B against the Pork Loin, but otherwise I'm happy for the time being.
