PYPB XXXIII - Effects are STOOPID

Not open for further replies.
Been so long since I posted my pedal carpet, but eveything is still the same. :hmm:

Mine stayed the same for quite a while (nothing since January! *gasp!), but I've had some recent comings and goings... getting ready to change things around yet again. Just picked up a second tuner (TU-3) today, so I can set up two complete boards.............

Just waiting on a little sumthin sumthin to head my way, should ship on Monday I think?

Pics to follow...

Here is a little ditty showcasing some effects usage. There is a bunch of examples on my soundcloud page, too.

Thanks! I'm going to give this a listen. I've never been an effects guy (no trolling intended) but am certainly interested in putting a small board together to broaden my horizons a bit.

Synthy, fuzzy stuff is of particular interest to me. Any suggestions on where to start? Thanks.

I kinda wish I had a board myself so that dragging it around would be easier.

Hey, remember that hard case I had my pedalboard in at that GTG? I've got another case after that and have a couple self-built boards that are just sitting around. Don't know how often you get up to Denver, but let me know if you're in my 'hood, I could hook you up with a case/board for like $25 if you want one (not both :p). The cases are the same, the boards are different sizes... one fills the case and I built the other one smaller to have room for a volume/wah pedal, cables or whatnot.

The boards aren't anything super special, but they work... each is a two layer deal... the back row is elevated, room for a power supply underneath (I was using a DC Brick with these) and space for a power strip on the back. You'd have to swap the velcro since I'm a moron and put the hard side on the boards, but still... just thought I'd throw that option out there for you. :)

Let me know if you're interested.

Aww dude, I'd love one, but the chances of me getting up to Denver anytime soon (October 6th for minus the bear is my earliest planned day) are slim to none since my truck isn't the best thing for the interstate. Maybe the springs though if you ever come down.

Cool! Thanks for the comment!!!

I am obviously a fan of iron ether effects, but they might not be the best place to start, because they are very versatile and can be overwhelming if you aren't used to knob tweaking. But, if you have the cash and don't mind a small learning curve, the IE oxide and Xerograoh deluxe combo paired with a good octave pedal will give you synthy, fuzzy sounds all day and night!

Well, I've been in Denver for 8 years now and that GTG was one of three times I've been in Colorado Springs, so that'll tell you something. lol

Those cases aren't going anywhere, so you can wait til October. They're not going up for sale to the general public. My heart just went out to a fellow low-ender without a board. :)

I'll have one here for you if you want it.

Sweet! I'll keep it in mind.

As always, luffin the PYPB threads!
There are always mega-freakin-luff-mongering-flingtastic boards on here that are GAS inducing to the max!
And, gah, blink and you miss the new thread.... 5 pages awreddy!

So, here's my current STOOPID board:

DSC00475.gif

Bass>LS-2> [Loop 1: MXR BOD>Oxide>Xero] [Loop 2: Narwhal>XoticBB>SBMWBD] > PS-6>EHX freeze>EP-2>amp!

I have one expression pedal and 4 pedals (on this board) that can use one. I am currently working with some ppl to make a box that will split your exp pedal into 4 individual, isolated outputs. Hoping for a winning design!

Have fun fellow FXters!

Gave it a listen. TWICE! Following you now on SC so keep up the good work. I'll look into those pedals. I appreciate your help.

This is my current board with my hard rock band, using it with a couple of active thunderbird style basses & an active jazz.

Just picked up the Shoe Gazer yesterday & tried it out at a gig last night, so far I'm LOVING it!!

Should be moving around the board abit & generally improving it, with room for my wah & chorus (aswell as a better power supply & octaver)

Iron Ether Narwhal?! I thought I'd heard of all of Taylor's pedals! How does the Narwhal differ from the Oxide?

If i remember correctly the Narwhal was a fuzz pedal prototype made by Taylor of Iron Ether for a bit but didn't actually make it into production. That one which is bumping around a board that is out of Australia is the only one that i've ever heard of. I'd love to hear some clips if they're available? :hiding: How does it compare to the oxide? What type of circuit, etc.? thanks in advance, sorry about all the questions
