Question about La Bella Nylon Tape wound strings

They do not fit the Cort Acoustic Bass. It has an older style acoustic bridge without bridge pins. The strings La Bella do NOT fit through the holes on the bridge!!!!!!!!!

I was planning on trying the D'Addario strings and then La Bella chirped up and suggested his brand. I got totally ripped off. Now my bass is sitting without an E string which I cut off before I realized the La Bella strings DO NOT fit!!!!

If my bass sits without the E string won't that make it need a set up too? This is ridiculous!

La Bella has not responded to me posting AND they haven't responded to a Private Message I sent them either.
Interesting that when I was going to buy the D'Addario strings they QUICKLY posted about how great their strings are to get me to buy theirs instead of the D'Addario but now that there's a problem they won't respond.

That is TERRIBLE customer service!!

Your first post was asking about LaBella which is why they chimed in in the first place.

LaBella does not frequent the forum very often. They have about 5 posts.

You should contact the reseller purchased from.

If that does not work I'll see what I can do to get in touch with someone for you.

Just as the neck settles to having less tension on it, once you put your new strings on it it will settle again. Since your other 3 strings are on you shouldn't worry.

Either way, with any string change you should do a setup especially by going to a string as different as black nylon tapes.

Spoke to La Bella. They are trying to help me get this worked out!! Glad about that.

Should I take the bass to a violin/cello repair shop or guitar repair shop?

I will need to get the bridge holes reamed possibly and also the nut set up for the new strings....

This string has convinced me to try the Laballa tapes on my Fender Victor Bailey acoustic. I hated the phosphor strings that came with it and, lamentably, the DR Rares weren't much better. Just so I'd know how they worked (or didn't) I threw on a pair of DR Fatbeams, which I LOVE on my J Basses, but they were, as one might expect, as bad as or worse than the phosphors.

The best success I've had has been with an old set of TI Jazz Flats that just didn't work for me on the Js, but I too found them inconsistent from string to string with the piezo. (They all sounded fine unplugged.)

Hopefully this thread will stay open for a bit and I'll update with results of the tape wounds in a few days.

I had a set of Fender tapes lying around that I tried on my Jazz and didn't like. They were brighter than expected. They are fantastic on my acoustic. Cheap too. The E wouldn't fit in the tuner hole so it is just passing through the slot with a right angle bend in the opposite direction of the wind.

Just got the Labella tapes and put them on my Victor Bailey acoustic. Amazing sound and playability. These are the ones for my ABG until another string comes along and cuts them.

Did have the problem with the E being way thick to peg in. Just played around with it until it wedged in okay, but the peg sticks up quite a bit.

So glad I found this thread. Thanks everybody.

I got these Labella tapes and the D string came unwound within a month of putting them on. They nylon separated around the 4th fret and then continued to come apart all over. I swapped them out for the Rotosound RS88 nylon flats. The strings are heavier and the tension is harder, but the sound makes up that.

After contacting Labella about the D string falling apart, I have still received zero response. I'll wouldn't recommend them.
