Question about Warwick basses!

@Slappy Daniels great thread! Quite a bit of helpful information. One thing to clarify...it can be a little confusing when people use words like "Thick", "Chunky", "Baseball Bat", or "D Shaped", I could be mistaken, but I think they are USUALLY referring to the neck from front to back. You mentioned Nut Width, which is of course not the same thing.

I have never played a Spector or Warwick, but that is how I always interpreted the description of the necks. I hope that helps, good luck!

I have had several Warwick basses. A mid-90’s 4-string Corvette Standard...great thicker, stable neck. A ‘98 5-string Thumb bolt-on...great thicker, stable neck. Fretwork was fantastic and the bridge/nut easily adjustable for the low action I prefer.

A 2013 stupid expensive custom-shop 4-string Thumb bolt-on (received in a trade and subsequently traded)...slim profile neck that required adjustment with seasons and string changes. Fretwork was average with a couple of high frets, but I could not achieve the lower action I preferred like on the above two. Medium/low was as close as I could get...which I have found that most off-the-rack basses can achieve.

At the time, my local shop did not have a Plek machine. Now they do. Still, considering the market price status of the 2013, throwing a few hundred dollars into a Plek on an already expensive bass just didn’t gain principle points with me.

If I would purchase or trade for a Warwick, I probably would want to get one from the ‘90’s and/or with a beefier neck and check it out in-person.

Problem is that every manufacturer uses slightly differing terms concerning neck thickness (not Nut width- that's called width).

And companies change that shape from time to times in subtle ways. And measurements change.
My Warwick Infinity feels like a baseball bat. And is not comfortable to me. My Spectors were ordered with "Slim" profile necks during their builds. And they suit me much better.

Yeah, I know that! But thanks for mentioning it at least.
This thread has definitely brought me a lot of new information!

I have a 2011 SSII 5 string that is easily the best sounding bass I've ever put my hands on, one of the best playing too. It doesn't have the giant thick neck like the older ones, but is still pretty rounded and extremely comfortable. The only ding against the bass is that it weighs a ton, so long play sessions with it are not usually in the cards for me. Love that bass though. What a monster.

Hi everyone,

So I have a question about Warwick basses.
I think they're supposed to be pretty good according to what I read and heard about them.
But I'd like to hear other people's experience with Warwick basses.
And with that I'm especially curious about what you guys think of the necks on Warwick basses.

Because I found messages on this forum, older posts from like 2008 or so.
And back then some people seemed to be complaining about how thick the necks on Warwick basses felt.

BUT, if I watch review videos on more recent Warwick models, people seem to really like the necks and say it feels very comfortable.
The one I'm looking at has a nut width of 38.5 mm (which is 1.5'' I think?)

If you have some knowledge or experience with Warwick basses, please help me out here! :)
The thing is, if I want to get one I probably have to order it before I can actually try it because the only store that sells it in their physical store is like 4 or 5 hours away!

Also, how do you think they are compared to Spector basses?

I have a 2006 MIG active Warwick Corvette 5 string. Tone for days. Some might have trouble with the string spacing at the nut as it seems a little tight. I did move the B string saddle out (sideways) which made plucking the B string easier without touching the E string by mistake.

It’s a tad on the heavy side, and for some that would definitely a non starter.
