I recommend you explore the topic of patent and copyright laws further. I am not an expert on the subject but while you acquire more information about this you may also discover that the word "definitive" may not apply to audio device cloning.

audio devices built in garages may not be a hot area of enforcement these days, but I recommend you look into the history of the tubescreamer - itself a clone with "one mod"

Electronic circuits are not protected by copyright. Ever. The copper tracings on the pcb boards are, the physical renderings of schematics are, the names and enclosure graphics may be. The circuits themselves are not. The law could not be less concerned with whether one series of caps and resistors is a "clone" of another, it's entirely a matter of builder ethics.

i've just been playing around with the tubesound circuit, the 4049 chip is a beautiful thing.

getting a huge range of sounds out of it! having 6 gain stages in one chip is a very useful thing ;o

Two reasons: 1, I wanted to hear for myself whether there was any audible difference between the PL and other Tube Sound Fuzz clones, and 2, after swapping the input caps this one I have now sounds identical to the PL.

I must agree with bongo made this pedal last week from a GGG kit, and it is now my fav. overdrive/fuzz. I might build another just to have to setting or incase a guitard wants one. But I felt the lows out of it were decent, doesnt shake the house when you hit a low b but does still rattle things a little bit.

FWIW I just sold the Llama, but I will be DIY'ing another one very soon, with a 50/50 blend built in, as that was my favorite application. It allowed me to use much more of the range of drive/fuzz while still sounding like an overdriven amp, with plenty of lows.

I have one, but I don't like it at low gain with my stingray and my walkascout its too buzzy and fizzy but it absolutely shines on higher gains!!! I highly recommend trying out the cmos booster from tim escobedo! its about 6 components and Its the best low gain overdrive I've tested! (also with a 4049 chip like the lama)
