QUICK SURVEY..... WHICH AMP

These kinds of threads more often than not turn into popularity contests. On TB you'll get more votes for Genz equipment. It's great equipment but certainly not for everyone. At least not me. It would help to know what your needs are and what type of cabs you'll be using. Also the type of sound that makes you want to play.

For the record, I have tried a few Genz heads and ended up owning Eden, and a Markbass LMT800 as my main gigging heads for a weekend warrior rock alt cover band. Size, weight and power all together puts the LMT800 at the top of your list out of those three choices for me.

TBH, I don't see an amp on this list I would (personally) choose. Are there any others you might consider, why only these three?

Why these three?
Ok... I currently own a GB Shuttle Max 6.0 but have the option now to get a little more juice because my playing venues have gotten a bit larger. I have a chance to trade it for a MB LM 800 or a MB TA501 that is why I am asking for some inputs here.

I am pushing two 8ohm B-210 Avatar cabinets..... I was thinking that maybe a 9.2 will do the trick...

Just looking for some advice, inputs, help basically... :)

Thanks again everyone for all your input so far!

Peace!

From what I can see the TA501 is actually less powerful than what you already have, so the LM800 would be the way to go. However, the gain in volume won't really be a lot as that amp is only slightly more powerful than what you already have; a 3dB increase in volume (a just noticeable difference to many people) requires doubling the output power of the amplifier, the LM800 might net you a 1 to 1.5dB increase, hardly noticeable to most people. I'd look to more efficient speakers from what you own rather than a change in amplifiers.

Thank you Jeff!

Interesting way of looking at it actually....

Never occurred to me to look at it from that angle, perhaps simply because it would be easier to swap out amps instead of cabs....

Again, very interesting... Or how Spock would say it,..... "FASCINATING!"

Thank you! :)
