I was looking at my Reverb app yesterday, not even wanting to open it and scroll through gear because i don’t actually want or need anything else.
I almost tried to persuade myself that i wanted a new OD pedal, when i really really don’t.
Lack of GAS is weeeeeeeeiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrdddddd.
Tonight’s rig
Sounds slamming with my upright. Play upright with one of my bands and they’ve had a Ampeg BA115 combo there at the practice space - started bring this rig along and it is so much tighter and more defined and still hefty and full. Eden EX 112 / 4 ohm.
I own two BB2's and a Quilter. They do make a glorious noise.
I may spring for a Barefaced later this year, but right now it's all so good I'm wallowing like the pig I am.And me.

I don’t have your cabs, but I’ve had other cans with metal grilles, and never had an issue. I’ve not been a heavy touring/gigging guy.

I don't have a Quilter cab.. .I do 60% heavy touring.. And Yes i have had issues with dented metal grills in the past. It NEVER really bothered me though..
All my stuff usually goes in cases anyway. But still there is that Knock to the grill that is permanent.. But like i said, it really doesn't bug me.. Just as long as the cab works well and sounds right

rather have the metal grills than cloth, my old ampeg is better for it, the cab looks ratty but it works like a champ
Peter, since I purchased my cabs in March, I've had one or both of them on over 100 gigs with no signs of wear at all. I use the speaker covers that Quilter supplies and essentially they both look brand new; (keep in mind this is with plenty of different road crews and band mates helping to schlep)...

Man, I've got two drive pedals which just don't get along with the Quilter. The Darkglass AOmega and the Reiner Gasoline (just snagged one of these small-run units). I don't know if it is the EQ voicing or the compression/limiting character of the amp, but something about it takes the edge off each of these pedals. With the same bass, pedals, and cab, but with a Demeter VTBP M 800D head, the pedals each have much more grind and vibrant tone. Anyone else have a similar experience with this amp altering the character of an effect/drive pedal? I really like the clean sound, but this "damping" effect has me scratching my head, particularly since my Dunwich Volt Thrower seems to operate as I'd expect with the Quilter.
As Skerrvydog said I'd mess with the gain structure and also try the active in. The amp doesn't have a ton of color but it is definitely a bit muted in the highs (IMO) so I don't think it's effect should be drastic if running it flat. You might try cutting the lows and/or mids back a bit and regaining around the cuts, only way to get more highs out of the amp.
Monster, I found the same thing when using my AO with the Quilter. I only use my AO for a mild OD so I compensated with more aggressive EQ settings on the AO. It almost seemed like I was trying to force a golf ball through a garden hose though.
Yeah. I suspected some compression interaction, so I tried opening up the master and dropping the gain, and various combinations. Nothing really "fixed" this.
Yeah. That pedal just feels like it fights the amp. I've called DG high gain distortion "fizzy" based on using it with other amps, but the fizz goes away with the Quilter (though, so does the vibe that I like). If other amps interact similarly, I can see why people have disputed the fizzy distortion description. We've all got different ears and gear.
