Quilter Interbass Alternatives

A guy who just recently bought a cabinet of mine, brought one to check out my cab. It sounded great.
They're pretty versatile. I've been looking into one.

I've been thinking about getting one for the RV, where pounds and cubic inches can matter a lot.

I've just placed the order for a Quilter Interbass on Thomann.

It will be the perfect companion for my Barefaced One10, in my week-end countryside house - I have a vinyl turntable there, I will play my old records and play along with the Quilter Interbass and the Barefaced cab while everybody is still asleep.

I must say that I had a last minute hesitation, when I realised that the Interbass doesn't have an aux input. Now I remember that I've been tempted several times to buy it, and each time the lack of aux in stopped me.

Sentences like "best bit of bass gear I have ever owned in 45+ years behind the bass" finally made me take the plunge today, but still, the addition of an aux in would make this small amp perfect.

Anyway, my Barefaced One10 is now waiting for the arrival of the Quilter Interbass

Thank you so much! How smart is that? Especially since I won't need the FX loop when playing along over backing tracks.

I like the idea of playing over vinyl records because (other than the romantic idea) it will force me to play over an entire 1/2 album rather than browsing individual songs on Youtube or Apple Music. It fits well with my idea of practicing during the week-end, a sort of positive constraint.

But it's good to know I can also use my smartphone to play over individual songs that I find on the web or Youtube videos.

Now I just have to buy a Bluetooth adaptor that has 1/4 inch jack output (like the BlackStar Tone:Link receiver)

EDIT: I should have bought the Interbass long ago when it was first released

I like the idea of playing over vinyl records

I have a boatload of vinyl LP's but haven't played any for awhile but when I did the Music always sounds more ' Comfortable' to my ears than any other source

I remember having to learn tracks using LP's; remember learning Real Me by The Who a lot grabbing Arm and moving back over and over again

Depending on your phone, it might be easier to buy a USB-C to 1/8" audio jack plus a 1/8" to 1/4" cable.

No, that's the point: I have an iPhone, and other members of the band use Android phones - Bluetooth rules in that context.
I had to buy the Blackstar receiver (or equivalent) anyway, because I also have PJ Double 4 v1 (no bluetooth on this version).
I'm glad this receiver have both size of jack outputs:

I am anxious to plug mine into a Barefaced 6x10, because when I ran it into a 4x10 w/ my band the drummer smiled and said, "...sounds like our old Sunn model T at full volume!" during a rehearsal. I am positive w/ a hyper-efficient cab like that, it'll really roar. It is massively ballsy w/ my 2 2x12s and they're nowhere NEAR as efficient as the Barefaced. I really hope you dig it...and I'm fairly certain you will. The Vintage side has sag, bloom and is very 3D w/ the gain above 1 o'clock, I do run the FR side on occasion...not much. Truly, it's the sound I chased for years~

Always a good question. Pure speculation still at this point. I think Pat is definite on doing it, and we have seen prototype pictures. At this rate, a good bet is early 2025, based on nothing but just the little bit that he's alluded.

The Interbass is the first of its type, so there are certainly things that could be added for a V2.

I've seen a Facebook post saying "2 weeks", I guess it was a little teaser, so maybe 2024.

My interbass just arrived and it is AWESOME. Very happy with it. So it stands to reason the v2 will be announced shortly

So, my Quilter Interbass finally arrived Yesterday (only 1 week wait)

What a frustrating experience!

I wasn't able to get it before late in the evening yesterday, so I couldn't try it with a cab, only through my headphones.
First impression: it's so tiny! OK, it's working, but it sound too trebly, because my headphone are too trebly, so I couldn't really tell if I like it or not.

This morning, I just had 5 minutes to play with it through a proper cab… before I had to go to the hospital… until thursday or friday
So I just spent the entire time with all EQ knobs at noon, only playing with the gain, master, and the FR/VINT switch.
Very promising: I've never seen such a wide palette of tones just with these 2 knobs and 1 voicing switch. Several very usable tones.

I can't wait to spend more time with it.

Don't worry I'm fine, it's just for medical examinations. Yes, I've been very intrigued by the level of interaction between the gain and the master levels, especially with the vintage voicing. I know a few other amps with which these 2 controls interact, but never to that level, and there was always one sweet spot. With the Interbass, it's like "oh, here is the sweet spot", and then "oh, wait, here's another one", but which one do I prefer?… until I found a third one, and so on. Each time I found a setting that I loved, and came back to the previous one in order to confirm, I found out that I liked both, even when I came back to the "FR" voicing, also excellent in a different way. I was also surprised that increasing the gain almost sounded like if I was increasing the lows (although I volontarily didn't touch the EQ knobs during that too short trial). Now I want to compare that added depth (using the gain knob only), with the "Low EQ" setting (which is labelled "Depth"). I really need to spend more time with it, it's soooo frustrating…

....and THEN...plug it into the Quilter 800/802 (I believe you have one or the other?)...it's all that + 800w! I really do prefer the low volume part of it, but it is wild to experience~
