Thanks everyone for your input. I've narrowed down my current search to these two: RevSound RS110 and Barefaced One 10. Thinking is that for now, playing without a drummer or electric guitars at only at small gigs, one of these will suffice but also be a good building block to add another of the same cab and more powerful head down the road if needed.
RevSound RS110
Sensitivity: 98db AES 1 watt/1 meter 121.6db @ 300 watts/ 1 meter
Frequency response: 45-4500hz
Barefaced One 10
Max Output ~119dB
Frequency Range 30Hz - 6kHz
Regarding the efficiency/sensitivity, is the 119dB on the Barefaced just the second component of the "98db AES 1 watt/1 meter 121.6db @ 300 watts/ 1 meter" the Rev? I.e. did they just include the high end # at max watts? Or is this something else?
Trying to make an apples to apples comparison on specs. But more importantly, if anyone has played both of these, I'd love to hear your thoughts on how they are different/same.
The Interbass's product page says it outputs 45 Watts at 4 Ohm, 33 W at 8 Ohm. You really don't have to worry about the max power capacity for either of these speakers.
The One10 is an 8 Ohm speaker, the RS100 is available with either a 4 or 8 Ohm rating.
The
One10's product page says: "Broadband sensitivity 95dB", which I assume is measured at 1 Watt/1 meter, since that's the convention. But you can contact them and ask.
So the hypothetical maximum volume you can get out of the One10 is 113 dB. The hypothetical maximum volume you can get out of the RS110 is either 116 dB (at 8 Ohm) or 117.3 dB* (at 4 Ohm), assuming both versions have identical efficiency and sound signatures.
So they're fairly close, when compared by these relatively minimal specs; the RevSound should be perceptibly louder. The 4 Ohm RS110 will be slightly louder than the 8 Ohm version but probably not by enough to notice. The downside with the 4 Ohm RS110 is you won't be able to use two of them; the InterBass is only rated for loads of 4 Ohm or greater.
The other thing to factor is how each of them sound. The Barefaced has a low-frequency response (the point where the signal has dropped at least [something] dB below average volume)** of around 30 Hz, the RevSound around 45 Hz. So the One10 might be a little quieter but it might also sound louder at lower frequencies, albeit probably not enough to matter unless your bass has a low B string.
*(Calculated by dead reckoning, probably off by a point or two.)
**(This is an important but also pretty fraught measurement for bass players. Neither manufacturer says what the dB level cutoff is with their frequency ranges, so I'm making some pretty broad assumptions here.)
