Quilter Labs InterBass!

Kind of a bummer, a few weeks ago the amplifier circuit went out completely on my InterBass. The FX send and Line Out work fine, but there’s no juice going out of the amp output, and according to my RNDI-to-DAW path, just barely an acknowledgement of a cable connection at all.

And since they seem to be sick of people mailing in amps, Quilter charges a $95 bench fee, along with any further labor/parts/return shipping. I would pay more for repair than I did for the actual amp.

So, I think I’m going to try to troubleshoot. Anyone have any experience threading thru the PCB? It’s appropriately snug and tightly designed, and maybe a good chance for me to level up my electronics know-how.

That sucks. I hope it's something easy like a loose solder joint.

ditto
yup the Cioks DC7 works great via the 24V out for the IB...

Just want to confirm, the Cioks DC7 is powering both the Quilter Interbass and the HX Stomp here? I LOVE my Interbass and am looking to pickup a Stomp and being able to power them both with one power supply would seal the deal.

It looks like my InterBass is a preamp pedal only for the foreseeable future. The IC in the amp path is evidently the most likely part to go bad, and Mr. Quilter confirmed it would take some specialized equipment to replace a surface-mounted component.

Well, I did record some social media content with a band last week (quick Christmas song) and ran thru the IB into the house Ashdown's FX return, and naturally it sounded great. So if I end up with some money to blow I'll go ahead and send it in, but for now, it'll live on in its more limited capacity.

Revisiting pedal board power supply solutions. Any new options to power the Interbass at 24v, 3a? I’m running mine at 4ohms and it seems I’ll need the full power required.

I saw Walrus Audio has the HP with a 3a output but only at 12 volts …

It’s a little spendy, this fits the bill.

I’m not affiliated with sweet foot at all, but I have a power supply from him for my stomp plus 4 more 500ma outlets. Works like a charm.
I guess compared to what else is out there, sweet foot isn’t that expensive after all. Actually a pretty good deal for custom, hand built gear.

I’m just generally surprised at the prices of power supplies, but I suppose powering sometimes thousands of dollars worth of pedals is probably not the area to skimp.

My Interbass is my only gigging amp. I don't play bars and clubs, but it's plenty of power for folk jams, church, bluegrass groups, jazz trios, or whatever else I can pick up. Especially since I recently upgraded my cab to a Revsound RS112 with nearly 103db sensitivity. I run it on battery all the time.

What battery pack do you use with the Quilter? Thinking about getting one for a busking setup.

The Milwaukee "Top Off" is brilliant. Snaps on top of a Milwaukee 18V has an AC outlet, USB, Thunderbolt outs. When we've lost power I've used it to run our router, TV and charge our phones for 8 hrs no problem. Joyco also makes a power brick that I have that works great.
