As far as getting "done in" by anything, seems like 80 years is a pretty good run - especially considering the many things that could have done him in.
Life expectancy when he was born was like 60 some years old. Today it's just about 80. I think Ginger did pretty good.
I was listening to Sirius this morning in the car. They gave a nice summary of his career, including a minute or so on the influence of Cream in their short time together. They then returned to playing music. I figured it would be Sunshine of Your Love, or something similar...
