Lately I have been playing with a gypsy swing jazz trio. It is really making me appreciate some of these old songs. I think our newest song is from the 70's, many are from the teens, 20's or 30's. The charts are amazing, say you are in Bb, the chart goes Bb, Bbmin, E, F, E D7, G7, etc. Not only are most new songs not very good, they are all simple to the nth degree. So lyricism is gone, melody is gone, what is left is a heavy beat. I once heard a major producer criticizing a song, saying it was a good song but too melodic for radio. Too melodic??? Sad.
So ignore the current stuff, check out Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, etc.

I had pizza for breakfast.
Then I spent all day experimenting with Creme Brulee for a presentation at work on Monday.
i'm thinking a Creme Brulee Renversee. So it will be unmolded from it's Ramekin.
The difference being i'm HOPING to sugar and brulee the entire thing. Basically encasing the custard in a sugar coat. Then decorate it with some dried Granny Smith Apples, and an apple and blackberry Coulis.
Any suggestions?

Hmmm, I'd dig that. Go for it Mrak. I like the creativity. Creme Bruless is very good, but also kind of blah in appearance at times.
