R.I.P. Scott Weiland

I really liked the first Velvet Revolver album. Very solid album. Saw them on that tour, skipped the Libertad tour, I remember telling my buddy who wanted me to go "nah, I'll catch them next time", and also skipped seeing STP with the same guy. Wait. No, I'm pretty sure that show got cancelled.

Anyways, always liked his vocals. STP was quite good but I really liked VR. That really sucks.

RIP.

So sad. One of my favorite times in music was when I played in a 3 piece band that was sometimes accused of being an STP tribute band. Some of the best of the 90s to me.

Guys, if you are in a band with someone who beats his/her body up with various chemicals every day, do them a favor and get in their faces. Tough love. Leave if you have to. But don't allow them to kill themselves. Any number of people around him could have made a difference. Sure, he had to want to get better. But hearing it from friends and family constantly is a good incentive to get better.

Prayers for the kids and family. Fly on brother. Get some rest... finally.

Not shocking, but still sad.

STP wasn't quite the soundtrack of my youth, but was the soundtrack of the loss of my youth. "Plush" was on the radio just as I graduated from college and moved to a new city to start life on my own, and about 18 months later I went to an STP concert in Salt Lake City with a few members of a team I was on working in that city. I had a 1993 Ford Probe GT in the early 90s; it was an awesome car and I remember many a very loud STP jam going on in that car.
