I haven't really considered effects until now . I was wondering if someone could recommend a rack mounted effects processor . I only have one rack space left.
I found the TC Electronics POD unit but it's more than one rack space . I could get another rack but im trying to avoid that . Thanks !

I've really never used FX before on bass so im really not sure what im after . I would think a multi. Effects . Need as much as I can fit into a single rack space . I really don't want to break bank either . Thanks for the reply .

boss se - 70, made for guitar but I've seen it mentioned a few times here. its half rack so you could stick a blanking plate next to it or maybe something like an allesis nano comp or FMR RNC next to it if you can get them to fit nice.

There's not many people who use rackmounted bass effects . Exceptions are mainly sans amps like the RBI, RPM, and PSA which are actually analog and people use as overdrives and pre amps) the bass player from Aerosmith uses a tc g major 2 but they mainly use it as a noise gate which in my opinion is way overkill for a noise gate but they probably get them for free. From my experience the line 6 m series (m5,m9,m13) does all the sounds most multieffects do well for bass. I've never heard any multis that had overdrive or synth sounds that I thought were usable, but multis can and often do have great delays, reverbs, chorus, and trem, flanger and so on. If you're a rack kind of guy you can put a m5 or m9 inside your rack or on a rack shelf and control it remotely with a midi controller like the tech 21 midi moose and midi mouse just like you would a rack effects unit.

I have a Rocktron Blue Thunder.
Compression, EQ (4 band parametric), chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo, reverb, delay, and distortion all tuned for bass.

It's a great sounding unit that's easy to get a great sound out of.

I use it with a Rolls Midibuddy footswitch, there's no delay when switching presets.

I'm considering buying a second one as a backup before they stop making them.

I had an Alesis QuadraVerb+ in my stage rig for ~10 years, got a lot of mileage out of that unit. Does excellent meat&potatoes modulation effects (flanging, chorusing, phase shifting) plus echoes, doubling, big ambient swamp reverbs, and some cool ring modulation emulations and tapped delay effects that could do a reasonable facsimile of modern bit crushers. Haven't really played any music that requires those sort of effects recently so mine migrated to the home studio rack, but if I were looking for an onstage multi-fx unit for cheap I'd check out ebay for a used QV, they go for peanuts these days.
