Medium rare to medium.
I got put off rare permanently after one restaurant gave me a "rare" burger that was completey raw. It was cold and grey. Looked like it had been left out on the counter for a week. Didn't give up on that restaurant, though, untill the time I ordered the breaded shrimp. I picked one up, and it was a breaded cockroach!

No offense, but is there really a difference? I'm sorry, but *** is a shrimp, but a friggin' disgusting sea cockroach anyway? I think you start splitting hairs like that, and you might as well just order the steak...

Probably because my dad was born in a 3rd world country and they always cooked their meat extra well done and he carried that tradition to US.
