Rarest Peavey Bass amp FOUND!

I owned a VTA-400 ! played through (2) Peavey 2x15 cabs loaded with JBL D140F's. I sounded pretty darn good ! I was tired of hauling it around - sold it to a friend. I remember the VTA-800 in the Peavey catalog - have never seen one in the flesh. Outstanding score !!

I love the controls, low accent, high accent. The early models had British accent and Spanish accent too!

I didn't know Peavy made any amps before the TNT!. I heard the cruise ship band on Noahs Ark had one along with the Shure Vocalmaster to call the animals in two by two. Cool score, I'd love to hear it, I'd hate to have to load it in or out though.

I'll bet it weighs about one hundred pounds! Epic. I remember hauling around a couple of the SS 800 watt PA amps around. I'm not nostalgic either!

I picked up a 1972 Sound City 150 from a guy who didn't want the pawn shop to end up with it. I bailed it out of hock for $20. The guy said, "It's yours man, good luck."

Supposedly, it was blown, but I futzed around with it for a few minutes and it showed signs of life. $10 for a heavy duty power switch at radio shack and it was resurrected.

I used it for years, retubed it once and sold it for $650.

I felt the same way, I'm based out in the far northeast, about an hour away from where it was found, and 30 minutes from where I rehearse with my band The Cultour in Williamstown, NJ.

It actually got sold to a guy who sells amps to Jesse regularly, but Jesse only uses F-800B's which are totally different for his sound compared to this brute, plus their solid state and are more reliable to him in a touring sense.

Get thee to an amp tech. New tubes, proper adjustment, and it looks like it needs a new power cord since that one is kinda frayed. But get it fixed up, hook that bad boy into a 3620 cab and rock the world.
