Man, I need a charged fire hose, because this thread is flaming up good.

I think if Dan was doing something illegal; him, Bill Nash, and David Certain would be shut down via legal injunction. While I understand and respect Mongo's opinion, I don't think Dan or any of his peers in the Fender clone field make any attempt to deceive potential customers. Hell, Dan even discloses his parts sources. The bass world is chock full of so many vendors who offer something different. I’m glad Fender clones are available along with other unique low-end offerings.

:eyebrow: Why do you exist? are you a troll? Let the man do what he wants, are you a fender representative? Are you a lawyer appointed by Fender to threaten him? The point of his products isn't to rip-off fender. I'm pretty sure their to give a reasonable product and extra money for his family vacations. I don't think you have to worry about fender losing any money because of this man.

Now now...don't be so harsh on Mongo2. I rather like having a stalker on TB. :smug:

A general question:
How hard can it be,in all honesty, to create something.
Soo many bass manufacturers are doing it.
And yet many still copy F...
If it is all about making better instruments than F ( their name can't be worth that much as to copy them if all we hear is, that these copys only happen because of F being so "mediocre"...) why copy them rather than come up with ones own "designs" and make a GOOD name for ones own instruments.

I'd like to direct your attention to a statement I made previously:

Look, either you dig this type of thing or you don't. Some guys really appreciate the kind of thing I do, or Bill Nash, or whoever. Some guys do not. Fair enough. Just like the old relic debate. People get very emotional about it for some reason, and borderline flame those who don't subscribe to their views.

We aren't talking about politics or religion here. We're talking about basses. Let's keep that in mind. :)

I saw the post you are referring to.
Wew are obviously not talking politics or religion.
Ethics however come into it for me somewheree just as they do in politics and religion.
I was making a general(not a very emotional) point rather than staging a personal attack attempt.
Sorry if it came across as such!
:)

Dan, after reading through the 10 pages of thread the last few days, I really really want one of your basses more than ever...was this some sort of marketing ploy all along? :ninja: JK

Back to the subject at hand - hows the headstock logo coming along? Any updates? Did you take ".com" off of there? Front or back of headstock? Maybe give the customers a choice?

I'd really like to see a line drawing logo of some sort instead of a name all together - I think that'd be classy. Think along the lines of the Gibson/Epi tbird logo that they put on their pickguards - I'd like to see something like THAT on a headstock...:D

Lol, I honestly had no clue this thing would end up at 10 pages. It's nuts!

Anyway, I've decided to remove the "com" and leave just the name & swoosh. I'm having some decals made and will post a pic soon.

I'll let the customer choose no logo, or logo on back, or logo on front.

The top ten reasons why Dan Atkinson is bad for America.

10. Osama Bin Laden and Octo-mom just placed orders with Dan.

9. Dan’s nitro cellulose paint fumes have left a hole in the ozone layer above the greater Atlanta area. Learning the news of Dan’s environmental disregard caused Al Gore to black out and crash his Toyota Prius into a tree. The tree did not survive the accident.

8. Giving people what they want?!? Making items to order?!? Having it your way?!? Let me guess; Dan must think he’s the f’ing Burger King!

7. If you play the audio files backwards on Dan’s website, it says, “Kill your parents. Hail Satan!”

6. Studies have shown that enjoying a clone bass is the 4th leading cause of erectile dysfunction. Shame on you, Dan for being in cahoots with pharmaceutical companies!

5. Dan was recently added as a member of the Axis of Evil.

4. The ghost of Christmas future is Leo Fender; he’s pissed, and will be visiting Dan on December 24th.

3. People have extra money for food after buying an Atkinson bass? Wow Dan! Thanks for contributing to obesity in America. You and your low-cost instruments make me sick!

2. It is quite rude for Dan to be fabricating a Mongo2 stalker tribute bass. Besides, who would want a bass that works only when original music is played through it? And yes, attempting Higher Ground through this unique instrument will cause it to spontaneously combust.

And the number one reason why Dan is bad for this great land of liberty…

1. He relics his basses! Mr. Atkinson, may God have mercy on your soul.

Hey gang, hopefully this isn't against the rules or something.

I've been asked by several people about a headstock logo on my basses. So I sat down last night with Photoshop and put this design together. Good? Bad?

(REVISED: Put logo on back of headstock)

Invalid Link Removed

It looks cool. I would put it on the front also but minus the URL. Just put the Logo with the URL on the back.

This design looks much better. The first pic you posted had this white bordering that looked bad. This one looks great. It kinda fits with the style of instrument you sell.
Oh, and the URL needs to go bye bye. It doesn't fit with your classic/vintage business model.

Ok gang, here it is. The real decal on a headstock. Thanks for all the advice and input!
