Rattling speaker?

So I've been noticing that the combo I've been using has a bit of speaker rattle when I hit the lower notes (its a 1x15 cab) any idea what causing it?

Is it worth mailing back home to me in NYC?

I would check to see if the speaker or the grill is loose - maybe that is causing the rattle.

What brand is it?

Its an Ampeg SVT115 cabinet. I have one in NY but I'd like a second cab for more volume, as well as a back up cabinet.

I'm currently back in NY, but my mom said she'd ship that and whatever else I want from my stuff.

It rattles, even though I tightened the speaker and removed the grill (it attaches with velcro)

It only rattles on certain notes, such as E and F# when played in the lower registers. It doesn't sound like its blown, because its still... articulate sounding... but... its rattling.

Any more help?

Maybe the speaker is not blown, but the voice coil is slightly out of round, and is rubbing.
Also, just a long shot, but you might want to try putting the speaker cab upside down for a while (you can still use it). Sometimes gravity causes heavier bass speakers to droop a little and the voice coil rubs, and if you store it rotated for while it can go back to normal.

Could be an air leak around a gasket too. Could it be something rattling in your room? Also, I have had dodgy signal cables sound surprisingly similar. Rule learned the hard way: Never disassemble an amp until trying a spare cable.

I had a prob like that with one of mine...the front panel where the speaker was mounted came un-glued from the side of the cabinet...
I just put some glue down the joint and a couple of screws from the side into the face panel. let it dry and removed the screws..worked great.
