Re-Issues you'd like to see.....

To me, this one is easy.

I'd love Fender to bring back a US made version of the original 1951 Precision. They did bring it back for a couple of years in the late sixties as the original Telecaster bass. I don't care what they call it, I'd love to have a brand new American Fender slab bass with a single coil.

Maybe do one as part of the Vintage reissue series.

I'd like to see Rickenbacker rerelease the 3000/3001:

Fender do a 70s reissue of the Mustang bass in all the colors offered in 76.

and Gibson do a proper reissue of the EB-2D. They were close with the initial midtown, and now they have the EB-335.

A Les Paul Junior type 1960 EB-0, medium scale - again, no pick guard, no pick guard screw holes (It's sentimental for me - pretty much the original PRS Body shape, although Paul always carved the tops):

This would make me very happy. I am a big fan of the body shape and have 1959 Junior. I would love one of those basses.

I recently got to play an EB2D owned by a drummer I play with. It looks exactly like that with hardly a mark on it, a real closet classic. Its a great sounding bass. Here's a link to an mp3 of me jamming on it that day.

Nice grooves! This of course isn't helping my gas with one. I think the biggest GAS attack is whenever I listen to the song Spread your Love by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the intro just kills me.
I believe it's just an old Epiphone Rivoli through a distortion of some sort and on to an old SVT. Just killer tone.

I have to wonder if the resources would ever be available again to produce another T40 run. I bet a reissue would cost at least $3500.

In my original post, I DID mention that they should consider a "Heritage" edition, not an "AVRI". I could see how an all-USA-built AVRI might get expensive, but with most of Peavey's current bass manufacture coming from overseas, I can't imagine them not being able to control labor costs. Body wood, high-end pickups (TV Jones "Thundertrons", anyone?) could be sourced easily, so it would not necessarily have to end up costing what a complete built-from-scratch luthier custom would.

In fact, I don't see why it would have to exceed $1500, including case. I wonder if Peavey still has the machinery in-house to manufacture the old "Contour" case? With modern adhesives, and better foam, that case design would still be able to do a great job of protecting a new "Heritage" edition. I'm still fascinated by the old stories of T40s falling downstairs in their original cases and emerging unharmed!

I too, as was mentioned on Page 1, would like to see a Kubicki ExFactor, but moreso a modern, reimagining of the bass and an evolution of the innovations that bass brought.

I do know BassLab took many of the cues and ran, but still...
