Hey atleast Johnny Ramone got his recognition with his number 16 spot

They did put Jimmy Page in the top ten (#9) so there is atleast that which I agree with...

I looked through that on one occasion. I was at a coffee shop waiting for my italian cream soda. All I remeber was that it was a bunch of crap and that Jimi was #1. Can anyone tell me where SRV, Al DiMeola, and Jeff Beck placed?

Steve Vai wasn't on the list, and I don't think Satriani was either (though I could be wrong). John Petrucci was nowhere to be found. The greatest guitarist thing was just popularity and less about actual musicianship. People like Petrucci who have guitar clinics and instructional videos are beat out by Jack White and his... whatever he has. But I digress.

The bass was supposed to die in the 80s when keyboards replaced them. Didn't happen.

The White Stripes  heh :rollno:

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs  who the f are they? :rollno:

And most of the others they listed suck anyway, and they are just a trend, temporarily hip then tomorrow they will be replaced by another trend.

Anyway, i see a new trend coming and it INVOLVES bass, but not necessarily guitar heheeh :D
a lot of movies and tv ads have a bass in the background - and no guitars! :p
New type of bands emerging with bassists - even DB, and meanwhile no guitars :p

Absolute ****e - and very lazy, unimaginative journalism - this sort of story just annoys crap out of me - as both a bassist and a journalist. I have a better story:

<b>"Local Reporter Beaten to a Pulp With Exotic Wood Custom Made Bass Guitar"</b>

Read it till the end - then it says these are just temporary trends, bass has its role and is here to stay.

White Strips = Good??????? I havent heard that before!!!

Wow, one band is "Pop" Withought a bassist... So what? Hell, have you ever heard of Rap? Hip-Hop? Thats a Whole Genre of Music, with a HUGE audiance that dosent Give a CRAP about guitar at all... Ill admit the basslines arent "WootRific" but damn, I havent heard more than a handfull of guitarists that can play anything but Powerchords...

EDIT: But some guitarists i like are:
Via
Satriani
Mac Alpine
Dream Theater
Al Di Meola
Blah, blah, blah...
