Real Book-Style Chart Writing Software?

I'm not sure this is the correct forum for this, but does anyone have advice on software to write out my own charts? I'd like something that will do it Real Book-style, with musical notation and chords above. I'm happy to buy the software, I just don't want to buy the wrong thing.

Bonus points if it also has a playback feature, even if it's a basic melody like Sibelius.

So fare I've tried the free version so Sibelius (maybe I need to buy the full version?) and iRead Pro which only seems to do chord charts.

For anyone not familiar here's an example of what I hope to do.

I think Finale can do it. And probably Musescore, which is more or less free. Both can do playbacks.

Noteflight.com is what I’ve been using for a while.
You subscribe to it, rather than buying software; it’s around $50 per year, or $300 lifetime subscription.
I started using it because it’s supposed to be easier than Finale or Sibelius; idk if that’s true, but it is much less expensive, especially if you’re not sure that you’ll stick with it.
Previously, I always hand wrote my charts; Covid gave me the spare time to learn Noteflight; it is nice to be able to play back whatever you’ve just written—and make changes if needed—before you pass it out!

Sibelius can be changed in preferences to look like the Real Books. I was using the monthly version (Ultimate) and I remember doing that.

With MuseScore you can create a chart, as you are seeking, with standard notation, chords and [Intro A, B, C] rehearsal marks.

Control K - chords
Control M - rehearsal mark

Use 'Control K' for chords so that the entire score can be transposed to any key. You can also just do slash charts if you wish.

I spent about 10 minutes on an introductory tutorial and I was able to figure out the rest.

Does it allow you to enter notes by string and fret number on a tab chart? I'm using the software Power Tab Editor and it allows this type of input which is handy if you have already created a bass line and want to put it on a staff. But that software is very clunky and hard to work with in some other ways. Looking for something new.

Yes. You can input tablature and, if you have linked the staffs, it will automatically populate the standard notation staff. Might be a little bit of a learning curve, but there are several good YT tutorials out there and MuseScore has an excellent online help guide.

for most quick arrangements i'm using sibelius first: cheap (free?) and effective. their "real book look" is found in/under the "text" tab in the "choose fonts" dropdown box as "jazz Inkpen2" --- it looks like this:

It seems to me that any program that supports a midi keyboard will help you create a music table. I don't see the problem)

This is a truthful post. We want honesty, but our actions speak of simple deception. I recently read some cool texts about honesty and I realized that this is a relative term. You can be honest on the one hand, but there may be understatement on the other. This can be called a partial truth or an indirect lie.

I use flat.io and the app. I get the education discount. Works in browser and the app. Notates fairly easily and you can put in chords and text as well
