I acquired this "Fender" bass guitar recently and I am having a hell of a time trying to authenticate it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Thank you Mapleglo. Agree on all. I've not seen another that doesn't have more info. on the headstock. SN points to 76-78. I thinks it bogus.I don't know that I've ever seen a Fender bridge with mounting screws in front of the saddles. But I'm certainly no expert. Also, the headstock/fretboard transition doesn't seem right. And yes, square truss rod access isn't right.

That's just about the fakest looking Fender I've ever seen. NOTHING about it is anywhere NEAR correct. Not even close.
