Zombies coming out of graves...I've never cared for any movie that includes this in the plot line as it really takes an extra leap of faith to consider it. Having a virus or something that affects the living is far enough.

Depends on how you look at it. It won't be like the gentle "pew" "pew" from Hollywood mythology, but it's not going to be ear-splitting either. Supersonic vs subsonic also comes into play.
It would be a universe quieter than a 30/30 or something like that. From a short distance away you might be hard-pressed to tell where it's coming from - good trait when in a zombie apocalypse

I've only messed with a suppressed 9mm AR15 in an indoor range. I wish I could have shot it outside. About the only thing I heard is the impact and cycling of the rifle, followed by the pinging of the shell casing bouncing around on the ground. The owner told me that you basically hear the cycling outside and people near the target hear the impact, which varies depending on what was hit.

Part of the "crack" of a rifle shot is the actual round breaking the sound barrier. If you can eliminate that, that's half your battle right there.
