Reccomendations on Weirdest/Unique basses

I was recently in Tokyo and briefly played this Atlansia Galaxy at Ikebe: Atlansia GALAXY 5st -Made in Japan- /Used | Reverb Australia

I like the cool design, but otherwise the bass was a bit disappointing. I found the neck clunky and the electronics seemed very "eighties" to me. Imho you can get better and more versatile basses today for the quite hefty second-hand price.
Neat to know, though I still hope to track one down someday... no to hijack the OP's thread too much, but clunky in what sense? I mostly play a fat-necked DB, so for me certain kinds of clunky are very comfy.

Howdy yall!
Just sold my '05 Ric on the verb and got the itch for something weird.

I've got:
Dingwall NG3
'77 4001 Ric
'62 AVRI Jazz
'11 AMStand Jazz

Been thinking Ovation Magnum I or II, Roland G77, or something else. I have about 2k to drop and a hankering for something not covered by what I have. Are DROCs by Dingwall different than NG3's?
Depends on your technique(s) and genres......for example: if you do a lot of slap style and play a lot of funk, I probably wouldn't get a Magnum

I basically never slap. Predominantly a finger style player, and these days have played Punk, Psych, Rock with occasional dabbling in Prog and Indie. Though I could see my way to wanting to play Funk and Disco
