You sure I can't have it? It looks wonderful. How much do these run for? And are they rare? Its hard to search for 90's MIJ 75 RI on ebay.

Actually it isn't that hard to find them. Basses, Fender Japan, then Basses, Fender, MIJ. Get familiar with the Fender serializing - it's listed on their site and I don't know it off the top of my head - but this bass came from the GFS here and this model shows up fairly often. I've never played another but I do have 3 MIJ J's in the house - an 88 62 RI - not period correct tinting on the neck but the pr0file & frets are correct - the 92 - 94 in the photo above and a 98 62 RI. They are all great basses. I've had a couple of others from the same period and been happy with all of them... The 88 62 RI came in trade for an 87 MIJ P that is a killer P bass. I am just not a P bass guy.
To net that crap out ... watch the GFS. If you can do w/o the maple and blocks - the 62 RI's are really, really good. Incerdibly sweet necks. If not, hold tight for a 75 RI - one - not mine will show up.

The coil tappable single coil thing is interesting. Basically you tap the coil at various points during the winding process. More output as you get more turns of wire engaged. I'm guessing that you also have correspondingly less hi's as you get more output ... sounds like kind of a cool thing to try. You gotta love having a mad scientist type in the neighborhood.
