Recommend me something... "different"

Revised list!

The quarterfinals+1 list:
- 1991 Music Man Sterling (The perfect bass to take to a bar because it just turned old enough to drink)
- 199X/20XX Warwick FNA (Like a stingray, but not)
- 1969 Yamaha SA-70 modded with Gibson EB-2 pickup (apparently they aren't "good" according to Aussie Mike, but Soxhats seems fine with his)
- 1981 Ovation Magnum III (It goes on and on and on and on)
- 1987 Kramer Spector NS-2 (Not-so-silent lucidity)

I was actually considering an Atkinson custom Bass, but he literally just shut down. I was also interested in the Spector "Shorty," but I couldn't even find that model on Spector's price lists.

Also, I may consider the 4-string version of the Dingwall Super P, but I need more information on those when they are released.

oh yeah, how can you leave out the two weirdest looking production basses made by a mainstream American Company?
You seemed to have missed the point. I don't care how it looks, I am looking for something completely "different" functionally/tonally to the Bass I have (maybe short scale, maybe hollow, maybe something that sounds like nothing else, whatever).

Have you decided on rosewood, or maple board on your new bass? Because that would make an awesome thread too around here.
There a problem here Mr. Man?

Yes, either one would be killer!
Not for me.
And I tried a Bongo and a Big Al many moons ago... I didn't care for them.
Sterlings and SRs are fine, but not Reflexes, Bongos, Als, etc.

I don't want any trouble. If I say "no" to your suggestion, don't take it personally. My reflection on the gear you suggest is no way a reflection on you as a player or a person. Then again, I don't recall taking a very negative stance in any of my posts, but people won't know my intended emotions through the type... that's why I changed my sig to a disclaimer: I'm not actually a negative person at all, I just sound like one due to the fact that I'm a snarktopus (try and read thhat word and not smile).

That said, I have chosen the Spector out of my list as the winner! I didn't want to bump the thread with my descition after I made it this afternoon as I assumed nobody cared anymore because posting died off.

Thank you to everyone that posted though (I appreciated you input, even if I disagreed with you ;) )!
I came upon my descision when I realized the Spector was the most desirable one (to me) out of the bunch after some serious thinking about the candidates. Basically I just looked at my corner where all my instruments are and imagined each Bass sitting there... I went for the one that made me smile.

Throughout the thread though you seemed pretty condescending and rude at times, regardless of what you may have intended. Congratulations on finding the right bass for you though.
I'm like that all the time, ergo the sig.

Can we please stop talking about this though? The person who pointed it out "One_Drop" conveniently managed to make that post right after I made a post he didn't like in another thread.

Just saying "this is the way I am" doesn't excuse behavior, though. Maybe you keep getting this kind of feedback because there's something you need to do about it.

I honestly didn't find anything insulting in the thread. Maybe mr lovejoy needs to be a bit more TACTILE in the way he speaks, but I think a lot of it is down to perception over the internet.

I'm glad you found the right bass sir, just think about how you speak to others in the future though :)

I honestly have no idea where I was acting so unbelievably bad that this thread has now become an indictment of my character.

Still:
Can we please stop talking about this though?

How many times am I going to have to say please?

I usually look at all the threads I've posted in at the same time, to catch up on them. I'm in a different time zone than most people here so my posts usually all come at once, not being in 'real time'. That's about as 'convenient' as it gets.

This is the second thread in which you have accused me of stalking you. I'm not. Get over yourself!

Y'all are funny. Neither of you have said anything too bad here or in the soloing thread, but you have decided to bicker. FWIW, I like both your positions on soloing, and that could have been an interesting discussion to follow. If not for the OT bickering.

Solo boost indeed.

Really sorry, I was enjoying the different points of view, Mr. Lovejoy's as well.
