Double Bass Red Eye Preamp

Got the red eye. I think it sounds amazing. The only thing I find a bit impractical is if one wants to use the DI out and other effects afterwards (in the loop) then there is no way to send the signal to an amp and FOH at the same time. Is it just me?
You might check with Daren at Fire Eye on this one, not sure I can help but I had a similar question early on.

I keep noticing used Red-Eyes for sale in the classifieds and elsewhere too. Are people getting over the GAS after using it for a while? How many of you are still wild about it?

I play community orchestra 4-5 x per month (no red eye!)...I play jazz combo 2x per month in the same space and use the red-eye plug and play. The red-eye improves my sound and the only eq I tweak is low & mid bass on the amp. I'm satisfied and like the simple set up. Some folks may have more GAS and a much busier schedule. Recently I read... "when you are dissatisfied with (fill in the blank) take a close look at your technique"...

Still using it. It currently lives on a Nano pedalboard with the Noble. I used it on three concerts this weekend in a notoriously boomy hall, on sets with Scott Wendholt, Jazzmeia Horn, and a Nonet performance of the entire Birth of the Cool recording. Got a lot of compliments on the bass sound. The DI on the RedEye is really nice to send to FOH.

I have one for sale; it is a great piece of gear, but..... I also have a ton of other equipment in current rotation, two old Ampeg fliptops, several different basses, guitars, and mandolins for sale in multiple shops, yet this month I somehow bough two other basses, sold one, traded one, and so far in the last 12 months I've bought and sold six different delay pedals that have zero to do with my bass playing.

Most of the time, it is not a factor of how well an individual unit works on its own. It is more how does it play with my entire signal chain. The more complicated the chain, the more complicated that they all play perfect together. My six different pickups all react different.

Remind me again who said I can only have one? For most of my favorite gigging equipment, I have at least one backup. On days like this, I usually feel like there is enough going on; if folks are not hearing me, switching out preamps is not the solution. ;)

Of the last 3 or 4 gear purchases after impulsively hopping on & off the gear/string merry-go-round, it’s the only one I haven’t flipped. Still dig it and use it frequently.

I just started using the DI out direct into the XLR in on the back of my quilter head. Doh, why didn't I try this like a year ago??!! Sounds great. I used to run the red eye first in my chain, but have now put it last. I have another red eye, maybe today I'll try that one at the beginning... Full circle-red eye-headway he2-qstrip-red eye-quilter XLR in-barefaced super midget. Tuner in red eye effects loop

It's still working well for me. It really helps the sound of the pickup I'm using for everything now(Vic's). I want to use the same setup for everything as much as possible, and this works better than anything I've tried and is very adaptable with little tonal adjustment. It's also simple and reliable, which is important to me. I've tried more pickups, preamps, and other gear than I care to think about and just want simplicity and reliability now. The fact that this setup sounds so good makes it even better. The RedEye makes the whole thing work.
