REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-II

I might have to purchase one again. Had one, but wasn't using it enough. I just picked up a gig, that might become steady, so I'm looking. LOL

Just received my Reddi and I did some recording tests against a Motown type drum loop in Garageband. Man, you guys weren't kidding about this thing. It requires no EQing at all, near perfect tone. I had its volume cranked to about 4 o'clock and it really sounds juicy. I'm going into a Focusrite Sapphire 40 interface with the gain at about 20%. Needs no more tweaking. I tried a bit of compression before going into the Reddi and it wasn't even necessary, has a bit of its own natural compression. I'm super happy with this thing and can't wait to record some tracks in the studio with the band soon.

I'm listening to Aretha Franklin's Rare and Unreleased Recordings... at work right now as I write this and I'm like "hey, that sounds just like the Reddi".

Does not surprise me. The bass player likely mic'ed a B-15 and/or went direct through an all-tube board. Does it give musician credits? Was it Chuck Rainey?

Jimmy,
The song I was listening to was "So Soon". My guess based on style is Tommy Cogbill. Very obvious it's a P bass and I'm sure it's a B-15 they were using in those Muscle Shoals studios. Can't go wrong with that combo.

Awesome pics, folks...was out to sea all week with my band's yearly cruise and the week before that was packed with gigs, so no trade shows for me. Oh well...they'll just make me want to spend money so I'm better off

Had a couple small items stolen out of my suitcase...nothing major, just a shaving kit and some 9v batteries. But I learned a good lesson about leaving expensive stuff in your suitcase when you check it in. I carried the REDDI on, but there's no doubt in my mind it would have been gone if I didn't. They'll steal a shaving kit, they'll steal anything.

Well, you folks sold me. I received my REDDI a couple days ago and I am really excited to start using it. My only question. Through an e-mail with Peter, he wants me to use a line level xlr input on the mixer. Since I don't have that option, I was wondering if any of you use an xlr to 1/4 adapter and plug in to a 1/4" input. Should I just take my chances and use the mic level xlr input? Thanks much!

I used to have to use an XLR/1/4" transformer to record to my old computer. Worked great. But I must ask what board these days doesn't have an XLR input you can use for bass.
