I have one with that coating, I think. More of a powder coat finish I guess but still glossy. I always keep the case just with it so it is never carried anywhere, just unplug and put in case, give it a night night kiss and seal it up.

Yes.. Its sort of a powder coating on the new ones... I will post later this week when mine arrives... showing my Relic'd Gloss one and the newer skid free one..:)
One of my friends on FB saw my post today about getting another one.. He is getting his first.. He lives in Hong Kong...So word is spreading about the REDDI.

Sorry Kirk. Its just so hard for me to think a DI would be so different in a recording studio. I never brought a DI in. Only used what was there and most of the time I never even looked at the model. Just can't see spending over 700 dollars on a DI when happy with he radials. I keep it in my gig bag and use it when needed. When you come up bring it. Or maybe Ill find someone around here with it. But its so hard to be convinced that it would be so different.

Well then don't get one ;) For me, the difference was so striking that I could even hear it on the Basstasters clips. Only reason I resisted was because of money and because I was happy with the mic. Then I found a good deal on one at the same time I was getting fed up with having to defend my use of a mic to unfamiliar soundmen, and the planets aligned. YMMV but I have not had a single second of buyer's remorse or a desire to return to the mic.

Thats a pretty strong endorsement by itself.
Wonder if there is a plan to build a similar unit at a lower price point?

The only way you could do that is by compromising the design or by moving production to China, and I don't think either of those would sit too well with Peter.

My guess is that any lower a price would mean unacceptable compromises. And really it's pretty competitively priced when you compare it to the Juiceboxes and Evil Twins etc it's in direct competition with.

+1

Thats all OK...
But you cant dismiss it until you have at least actually tried it for yourself.. you are dismissing before you tried one

Look at it this way.
You have two TF amp heads that you have spent thousands on.. For you, they do exactly what you expect them to do. But almost 2k for a 450 watt head is excessive to some. Or $4000 for a bass is excessive to people who would use a fender bass to accomplish the same task....
They are all tools that we use to do a job..
As you, I too trust what i hear but mostly what i feel.... hearing can be deceiving at times. SO i go for what it FEELS like all the time. And for me the REDDI proves itself over and over.

My story about bringing the UA610 solo and REDDI to a session the first week that i had it id a true one. Kirk Franklins producer preferred it over the UA.. The guy has Grammys for whatever reason he liked the reddi...Hes was payig me.. so im OK.. At teh time i thought UA was the shazzizzle... until i did an AB in a real studio. ... Then Bonnie Raitts FOH and her producer prefered it over the Brookes Siren, The Brick, and the U5. Another Grammy winning guy preferred it over his House DI and a Fern.
I just did 5 tracks on a metal session using the REDDI .. It was A/B to another nice Tube DI, and they selected the REDDI. Billy Sheehan is on the other 5 tracks and he saw the REDDI for the first time and wanted to borrow it.. NO.... He got to swipe 5 songs from me an probably got paid 10 times what i got paid. Go get your own.:D

Like all gear,, it may not float your boat.. Tone is subjective,,,.. Is it worth $700? Its the only thing that i own after trying so many.. So f or me yes...

I would never try to convince you. You have to do that yourself.. .But I can help you save money and time by showing you a shortcut to the finish.:D:D
Question you should ask ... Is the TF amp $1200 better sounding than another amp ?

REDDI made in the USA too.... It has nice Iron Transformers.... Like an SVT amp with all that Iron.. It does something
